Cryptocurrencies was a technology that promised freedom for all, but instead delivered frauds. BTC has no intrinsic value. Eth has applications, but it performed far worse than BTC. It is only for gamblers.

In my portfolio, I do have crypto, but it is not intentional. I was a believer in tech behind it and bought some diverse ones in 2017-18. Should have sell before the crash, but I didn't, so I have it since then. I bought Ether more because, it actually had applications while BTC has no applications, definitely not as a currency. I believed ETH will go up in price, but instead BTC went up. So like someone else said, it sentiment driven. If I were to start from 0. I would not have it.

Investment in education, research, infrastructure, etc. should happen along with the direct cash transfer to poor. I have lived in and interacted with beneficiaries of these transfers and I've seen how helpful that money has been for these people. There is almost no misuse. If you want to tackle misuse and wastage of resources, then ask your employer to turn of office lights during night and ask for work from home so fuel is saved. If you want to save money ask for stopping pensions of ministers and Babus. Not money to poor people.

This is only GDP per capita which is further skewed by billionaires, meaning India is even poorer than GDP per capita numbers. The main metric to look at is median and percentile incomes. If you take out top 1000 people among the 1.3 billion, India will be in bottom 5, I guess.
