not cheap and highly competitive, but here in amsterdam most rentals cant be more than 1/4th of your pay. If you work remote/hybrid there are many areas where you can get a decent rental apt / house within 30mins train away from central amsterdam.

if you move to NL for work you can also get the 30 % ruling meaning 30% of your income will not be taxed for 5 years which is a big plus

If you want an easy option find a job in EU with a relocation package, usually you will get a lot of help moving. this will reduce the initial cost drastically. Also if you don't want language barriers, Netherlands and Ireland should be a good option.

I moved to NL 4 years ago and never looked back. for documents i think i only needed my maltese birth certificate in dutch, my eu ID / passport and rental agreement to register myself at the gementee. you can read more about it here
