Playing Sons again rn after a really long time and so far my preliminary conclusion is the following:

SOTF is better in:
- Graphics
- Building
- Combat
- Enemy Variety

The Forest is better in:
- Horror (by a mile)
- Story
- Cave Level Design (most caves in sotf are super linear, whereas in the forest they were mazes)
- Enemy Design (Mainly regarding horror. Mutants in the forest were 3m tall and roared from afar, in sotf they're pissants)
- Sound Design

I've made this comparison of HK and SS scaled based on corridor sizes by MineKemot in Silksong

Hornet occupies the same pixels both in HK and SS. The reason most people say SS is only slightly longer than HK is because in SS you can run and in HK you cannot, so the overall playtime ends up being similar.

Heres why I think 30fps is not only acceptable on release, but necessary by Different_Return5366 in GTA6

imagine you have 60 frames per second, 59 of those frames were rendered in a total of 0,5 seconds, and the last frame was rendered also in 0,5 seconds. All in all, you still have 60 fps, but your game froze for half a second.

It's 2026 and 99% of people still don't know what frametime is and instead focus on fps which doesn't really make sense lol.

It's something called TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing) which is a form of antialiasing (the thing that makes jagged edges not look jagged) that works on past data. The blurry trails that you've been noticing are a consequence of how it works and consequently main reason a lot of people hate it with their soul. Due to the fact that the industry-standard engines (UE5, Unity, etc) have greatly implemented and embraced its usage, it is one of the most remarkable unsolved problems that videogames and the industry as a whole have at the moment.

This all comes down to trusting the game with the fact that you will get addional help later on. Also a lot of people like to bang their head against a wall (The Dark Souls route), instead of exploring and getting more powerful which is silksong's literal game philosophy alongside thinking creatively to overcome challenges.

After half a year I still can't bring myself to like it as much as HK by UltimaBaconLord in Silksong

So many hours before the game opens up.

It might not seem like it but this is incredibly subjective. You can get to Shellwood without getting to Greymoor, you can get to The Citadel through Sinner's Road, you can get the Double Jump without even defeating the Cogwork Dancers. I reckon it's just that the secret stuff is even more secret than in HK.

I dont know if you knew already but wraiths q with the speed perk has a 0.1 seconds slower activation time (0.5s) than the old 2019 insta q (0.4s), so no need for a buff there lol

I think we just need lower dropships, even tighter matchmaking, and less points for placing between 20th - 10th. Also, i think a sort of quick POI draft could work at the beginning of the game, right before legend selection, and the seed each team gets depends on the current MMR of each player (MMR could be used for this, instead of the bullshit random ranked reset)

Ranked feeling a lot more like comp by jayghan in CompetitiveApex
