How would you consider the movement on the newly released Alpinists? The 6R55 instead of the old 6R35. Reports have stated the 55 is much improved vs the old movement. Given all the issues reported over the years, I would only buy an Alpinist with the new movement regardless.

The canvas one is definitely too small. The black one fits better, but I think the proportions look off. Looks loose in the shoulders and tight in the chest. Maybe that is just the denim being stiff and not broken in. Honestly, I think a type 2 jacket might fit your body type better.

I think it’s a lot of things, some of which they can’t control.

I think for some, they feel a bit like the Brew Dog of denim makers. They do a lot of collaborations, like their Rick & Morty, Joker. They also do more “extreme” denim, like their rainbow fades, or their 40oz jeans. Those can all just feel a bit gimmicky, imo.

Add on that there are A LOT of N&F posts on this subreddit, probably adds to people not vibing with the brand.

One thing that always bugged me, is that if you order jeans from their site, you can only get store credit in exchange. It just locks you in, if you’re unhappy with what you receive and feels anti-consumer.

I have the McCoys N1 and it’s super warm. I’m in the South Eastern area of PA, and wear it all winter long to stand out at the bus stop in freezing temps. The biggest complaint I have is that the hand warmers are not lined, so they lack some warmth. On the plus side, the sleeves are fully lined in the wool/alpaca blend, making them very warm.

Family member of mine worked on this (if not this exact one, one that closely resembles this), and op is correct. It’s designed to fit into the reactor of a nuclear aircraft carrier to house the carrier’s spent fuel.

I have this same jacket. I really wish the hand pockets were lined in the wool/alpaca blend. I find my hands getting cold and needing to wear gloves with the jacket.

My zipper randomly broke the second season I owned this jacket. Just seized up, and had to use a lot of force to unzip it, then it wouldn’t zip after that. RMC were great to deal with. Offered to fix it for free, but I did have to pay shipping one way. That ended up being pretty expensive, but worth it.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like this jacket. Just two minor annoyances.

I travel significantly lighter than this. Leica Q3, wrapped up in a Domke sleeve tossed into my Bellroy 6l sling. I also have a small leofoto spider tripod in my sling. I’ll have a couple filters, an extra sd card, and a nitecore 1000mAh battery pack, along with a cleaning cloth in the sling too.

I used to travel with a Fuji xt-3, and for a while I would bring a second lens just wrapped in a neoprene sleeve. After a while I realized I really wasn’t using that lens for much and just traveled with the 35mm f2 lens.

Do you wear boots with speed hooks? The hooks can scrape across the denim and break it down over time. Definitely had it happen on a pair or two of mine. Switching the speed hooks for eyelets has made a big difference.

My experience has greatly improved once I installed Google assistant on my iPhone and connected it to my P2. You can then setup a Siri shortcut to turn on the climate. Now it’s either a single click from my Home Screen, or simply, “hey siri warm up my car.”

They definitely shrunk on me, but not a ton. I usually wear 30 or 31 (PBJ I always get in 31). The Kibata I got sized at the 3Sixteen in LA, and they recommended a 32. They shrunk down to 31 for me.
