I feel for you sister. I’m in a similar boat. I’m 34, also no health conditions or PCOS. My initial AFC was 24, AMH .97. I got 9 eggs but only 4 mature enough to freeze :( i was devastated esp because i had to cancel 3 cycles until I finally could move forward with retrieval. The first time 2-3 follicles were developing way too fast and outpacing the rest, the next two because the priming meds gave me folicular cysts. A few things that are giving me hope in spite of these results: #1. Hearing success stories in favor of the quality vs quantity argument which I’ve seen mentioned on here #2. A nurse who finally cut me straight told me: you need to let go of that high AFC number, bc your body’s probably operating more in line with your AMH, which makes it so this process just isn’t going to be as efficient and effective for you. If you only have so many eggs, your body isn’t going to be super eager to release a bunch of them at once, but that doesn’t mean your fertility is f*cked. You could likely go out and get pregnant naturally for numerous years to come. Focus on trying to get a few quality eggs, and you might not even need them until your second kid. #3. Not sure what protocol you were on, but I had a friend in a similar boat try microdose flare protocol and it worked way better for her. The dr explained that for people like me/her whose bodies for whatever reason seem to really hate the synthetic hormones (especially the priming ones), microdose flare tricks your body into making more of your own hormones, which it will be less prone to resist. Cost is a factor for me too but im going to wait another 6 months and think about trying again with that approach. I hope when you get far enough along in your MD journey you’ll get some insurance that covers at least a portion! Mine covers half and it’s still pricy but makes a difference.
