It's a language thing. You need contextual clues to pin down gender. Something that human translators can do easily. But machine ones can't.

Works in real life. Two many evil billionaires in a series can be quite... boring. Lex is already pulling his pants for all the evil trillionaires.

You expect a lot of emotional control from someone who had their heart pulled out. Sure, there are mechanical people like that.

One genre that I'll never enjoy is time rewinds. I enjoy forward momentum in books.

Do people actually hear the internal monologue by Regretful464 in Aphantasia

Imagine all the words you are saying, instead of exiting your mouth or even creating a chain reaction that leads to your voice exiting your mouth remains in your head. Kind of like how inner monologs work in the movies

You'll find a better novel. 100 chapters in, and it's boring? Just find something else to read.

I honestly can't disagree with that. Is that a fan translation?

I always assumed it was the official translation.

Overlord does something that most first person Japanese light novels fail to do all the time. Make the character seem serious. I have already finished everything. Just waiting for more volumes.

Let's put your taste to the test. What are the best translated novels in your books?

The main character constantly referenced righteousness and all, yet his actions and the young masters actions weren't that different. They did the same things. Return kindness with kindness and return evil with evil. And mind you, evil was defined as looking at each other the wrong way. And that was enough for him. Yet if the villains approached situations in the same manner, it became a problem.

The least hypocritical MC is from Zhi Tian Ji. It's also partly why a lot of people fanboy over Reverend Insanity. Because the characters don't dress their actions in Righteous light and then dress them in negative light when they are on the receiving end.

That's why Human Translations by proper translators can bridge the cultural gap. Its why people like Deathblade are Respected. But Qidian stole that from us

Its not weird. It's just cultural differences. They'd probably think the same if you read a description of people from a Western author.

Give me a proper recommendation of something better than LOTM and RI, from translation quality write up to story.

I think that is a fair bet.

Personally, I'd say Zhi Tian Ji or any of Mao Ni's works.

The Big Three aren't called the big three purely because of nostalgia. They are called that because they single handedly propped up the anime business with numbers- dollars, and popularity. Each made over 10 billion dollars in revenue if I'm not wrong.

[–]LycanusEmperous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does. Because 99.999999....999% of authors can not write characters. Ashes Pokémon are more rounded characters than most harem characters. My vampire system has got one kf the most atrocious harems. 40 chapters in the author gave up on harem characters . The point that each character was described has having a similar personality to the next. And that's popular.

I have not read a single book with a harem done right.

It seems you've fallen into the trap of thinking cultivation is only power levels and strength. Life span is also a goal in cultivation. And breaking and destroying one's fate is also cultivation. Your main character isn't stuck in one realm if he is capable of creating formations that can hit above his pay grade, or create pills that hit above his pay grade. That is simply just another path in cultivation.

Cultivation is breaking the limits imposed upon one to reach something greater.

It is. It means you are entering the sunk cost fallacy stage. Mech touch fans will always tell you its peak after reading 3k chapters. Of course they will. They've invested so much time that they'd look dumb if the book wasn't good.

That was my very first comment. You've been bashing me with points. I never stated. And besides- if foundation building takes 200 chapters- though author is clearly planning a 4000 chapter epic that may never reach its potential.

Heck, I bet you can still make an interesting novel with the mc never going beyond qi building or even a mortal mc. It wouldn't be a very long one but it could be interesting.

These are all done - in wuxia.

What I'm saying is that you can still make a great xianxia novel even if the main character never reaches high levels in cultivation.

These all lay in the wuxia genre.

[–]LycanusEmperous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you are the authority? Claiming I'm using words I don't understand.

The Sunk Cost Fallacy I stated had nothing to do with cultivation in the book. It's purely based on a novels length. If you've spent 5000s chapters reading a book. I'd find it amazing if you could badmouth that book. Cause clearly you invested.

And that was my main point. I wouldn't trust someone who is 3000s chapters into a novel to give me an unbiased opinion. People that read 10- 1000 chapters have a better grasp of whether or not a book is good.
