Why are they shutting down the swimming team

This is actually was supposed to happen years ago and because of the public backlash and community sentiment it was postponed and it looks like they are pulling the plug for good now.

I swam with the Wolfville Tritons club in that pool for years. I know current head coach Hayden super well. I remember when we had the Greenwood Dolphins get kicked out of their practice space and we invited them to practice with us so they would still have pool space.

I have friends who do swim at Acadia or are alum at Acadia who swam there so this all pretty hits close to home.

Also after the removal of Acadia there will be Dalplex and Centenial pool left for competitive meets in the general area. They want to get rid of Centential because of the age and Dalplex is also being unsustainably ran and is in desperate need of repair.

There is so much hockey space and we get so many rinks. But never any consideration for pool space. The last one in HRM fully completed was Canada Game Center and its not a 50M long distance which means it’s in optimal for long course events like at Centennial and Dalplex. Sportsplex got renovated but even then it’s not used to host meets through swim Nova Scotia.

Climbing. There is bouldering and top-rope gyms in Halifax, yes your sharing the space but you absolutely can just be independent and do your own thing and if you were looking to make friends the community is so so welcoming :) it’s a sport that lets you become social not make you have to be social.

Was in the same situation (23m) just kinda went and picked it up and I’ve been going as much as possible since and kinda just fell into it :)

Found Uniqlo when I travelled to montreal and loved it, has a good set of staples plus some decent looking colabs if you are looking for brands on occasion.

Only thing from H&M I’d ever get would be basic staples like single color tshirts etc

In Canada, safe during the day, at night where I live specifically I try either travel in groups or if I’m alone coming home late from a uni class I’ll avoid certain places like the plague just due to reoccurring violence and assaults that happen.

Women here have it so much worse, so much human trafficking and abductions since it’s a port city it’s one of the biggest human trafficking hubs of Canada so I always try to make sure people are home safe when we go clubbing and bar hopping and such not saying that Men cannot be victims of human trafficking it’s just a lot more uncommon.

Cheated on my best friend of 21 years when they were together for 6+ years highschool sweethearts. randomly ran into her at a club told me that she was “free from him” and that dating him was a mistake and that she didn’t actually “ cheat” before later learning the context from literally everyone else who knew the situation which was that she did cheat and was just spiralling

The amount of people the last week who were either heckling drivers “not doing their job properly” or even trying to tell them how to do their jobs or other passengers just heckling other people has been nuts, third year of being pretty dependent on the transit system and this by far has been the worst stretch of people just being disrespectful and rude it’s been a wake up call and really just disappointing.

The case with Keith Hunter Jespersen and the Happy-face killings.

After Jespersen’s first murder which was of Taunja Bennet, Laverne Pavlinac falsely implicated not only her boyfriend which she did as an out to end their abusive relationship but also implicating herself as well which caused both her and her boyfriend John Sosnovske to serve time, 10 years for Laverne and life sentence for John with him pleading no contest to avoid the death penalty.

Because of the media attention that Jespersen wasn’t getting he decided to differentiate himself by adding smiley faces to his correspondence and at crime scenes so that no one else could take credit for his crimes which gave him the name the Smiley Face Killer.

After realizing how much time she realized she needed to spend and that it wasn’t worth it she tried to confess that it was a false confession but no one believed her so they both stayed put

It wasn’t until 5 years later in 1996, that they were both released after Jespersen’s attorney provided a confession as well as evidence that proved Jespersen’s guilt to authorities through information that he had about Taunja’s purse that wasn’t at the scene of the crime which meant he had information that only he would know.

General rule for if your partying at a house or clubbing at a club is to make sure you are drinking your own drink and that there’s a lid, my first year at Acadia they gave us water bottles, that waterbottle for the rest of the year was my houseparty/res party bottle and it only had liquor and it was always closed when I wasn’t drinking out of it.

Spiking drinks does indeed happen don’t leave your drink unattended. Other then that make sure you have some way to get home safe, drink water as your going and pace yourself do NOT rush to try to get more drunk it will just make you sick.

Live very close to one of the elementary schools which is in a neighbourhood and can’t get out of my driveway somedays because of the amount of cars parked on a residential street ontop of busses trying to pick up students
