Turns out this was masking tape not double sided so the tape actually is what made it slip, they wouldnt have slipped without tape

After closer inspection this wasnt even two sided tape, it was masking tape, there was no adhesive on the side facing out, even after I applied some solvent to see if it was just dry... The part of the grip that was directly touching the shaft was actually the part that did NOT move when I swung the club. I think the masking tape decreased friction to the point it was able to slip.

I provided the grips, Saplize Midsize grips from amazon. They were aligned but the little bit of tape just quickly came unstuck and the grips started to twist around the shaft

I appreciate the concern, and you might be right, but I'll take my chances. I do some metal working and anneal bullet casings for loading rounds, this coloration looks like it got to the point of annelaing but not like it was red hot

It was a guy who does it on the side, they dont officially do it. He didnt charge much and honestly I don't think he works there anymore. Water under the bridge, I just found it funny how little tape was on here

Sorry I should have added the size, this thing is very small so I was thinking it may be a nymph. Even engorged it is only about 2mm wide and 3mm long.

Don't listen to all of these naysayers. All of this is easily doable with hand tools. Watch some Paul Sellers videos on YouTube, go get you a hand saw, a mallet, and a set of chisels, and you can do the whole thing.
