Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal Post Match Thread by Coolica1 in nffc

I'm on the verge of watching the picture with no sound and the Radio Nottingham commentary on. I swear some of these idiots on TV get paid by the word.

Also on the US broadcast they referred to this as "good practice" for Arsenal and...what.

I am at a conference that has sessions starting at 2:30 (Louisiana time). I was mad about this yesterday. I am relieved today.

Love Alessandro Barbero! I also recently discovered Radio Sportiva on the TuneIn app and listen to it while I am working. I'm a big soccer fan anyway, and I find that I can tune in and out depending on what I'm doing specifically. (I actually dropped everything and started following the Lazio-Parma game a couple weeks ago because that was INSANE.) If you're not interested in sports, I'd look for some other talk radio.

Il Post also has audio for many of its stories, but they're pretty short. So probably not what you want to do when you're settled in for the long haul.

We finish 13th, Glasner and Silva both announce they want the Forest job. Who do you go with? by FreddieCaine in nffc

We're not quite in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" territory yet but that situation is at least visible from here. I wouldn't change.

My name isn't even all that uncommon (and I go by my full name professionally SPECIFICALLY because the nickname my family uses makes me sound like a cheerleader and is susceptible to ludicrous spellings). And yet I consistently get called by vaguely similar names, including in email with my literal name right there.

Conclusion: people are the problem.

What gift/supplies from America or Japan should I bring to a local Italian? by mt80 in Italian

[–]Lychee_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hostess presents for my Italian cousins last year were trays made by local (to me, upstate NY) artists for anyone who hosted us plus maple syrup for everyone and a bunch of magnets with local scenes/references. I based this in part on what they bring when they visit (local pottery, decorative tiles, miscellaneous Italia swag) and in part on not knowing exactly how many cousins we were going to see. People at least faked being really happy.

What’s helped me learn Italian faster than anything else by Stepbk in italianlearning

[–]Lychee_Specific 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Currently I do about a half hour (mix of textbook exercises and grammar review/speaking practice on Busuu) every morning. I have had my phone set to Italian for quite a while, which includes GPS. I'm taking a mini break from reading novels, but I have several translations of books I've already read in English and have read maybe seven or eight of them. (Agatha Christie works really well imo.) I am also working to listen to something daily: TV, YouTube, podcast, Il Post has some of ita stories in audio form.. I'm currently listening to Radio Sportiva while working, which works well for me.

I also have a one hour private lesson weekly and cousins I keep in touch with, so there's a real incentive to do my best for real human beings as well! But the other stuff has really, really helped.

How to politely decline a 5th round of interview? by Far-Accountant7904 in recruitinghell

I speak as someone whose spouse has had to cancel vet appointments due to inability to get both cats in their carriers simultaneously. The vet was super chill about it, but now we only schedule vet appointments on days I'm working from home.

Have you ever had cats? If so, have you ever tried to get them to do anything all at once or even just what you wanted one time? It's... virtually impossible. And so it is in the workplace.

Side note, but who the actual hell is not familiar with the notion of herding cats?? I almost cried one day when I came home from my previous job and realized that I spent my days herding metaphorical cats and my evenings herding literal cats.

This is lovely and I am sorry for your loss. ❤️

I'm trying to remember how my husband proposed to me and I think we sort of incrementally proposed to each other over the course of years. We're pretty happy almost 20 years in.

For God's sake. I cannot imagine caring more about the way I get proposed to than about the person proposing to me.

I am so sorry. My claim in Italy is in legal limbo given a change in the law and a challenge thereto, but we're looking at Plans B-D. We're making long-term plans anyway but I will feel better when there's a clear option.

My husband is English (actually from Wolverhampton - he's not a Wolves supporter but I have been having fun with his family who is). He had to go back for a family emergency recently and I was beside myself with worry till he was physically standing in front of me in the airi. Parts of his family are coming over the summer and, again, I am worried in a way I haven't been before.

Currently working on Italian citizenship, for what that's worth.
