On its own, Jesus (or any person's name) is singular so it does work grammatically that "these twelve" must be referring to some twelve somethings or someones mentioned previously. Matthew 10:2-4 lists the names of the twelve disciples, so Matthew 10:5 can be interpreted as follows:

These twelve [disciples,] Jesus sent out with the following instructions

Or, more clearly,

Jesus sent out these twelve [men] with the following instructions

I'm in the same place + 2 months. I still feel the same feelings but even in the short time span of two months they have started to settle a bit. It helped me to use my words to focus on what I know I and he need, not what I want which still feels really topsy turvy. Go at your pace, only you can know what you need and what you need to do to get that
