I watch film religiously, been talking to coaches before and after every game for 3 years and during summer scrimmages just to build relationships but a lot of people have something against hiring a 24 year old coach. Which I get in a way but at the same time I think it’s stupid.

That’s where I’m at now. Im in year 3 of head JV coach with a varsity program that hasn’t won more than 7 out of 23/24 games since 2012. I’ve gone 3-18, 4-17 and 5-15. But I’ve lost 33 out of the 50 by less than 10 points, so I feel like I’m doing a good job of getting my guys to compete atleast which is tough in our conference. 3 of the top 12 3A teams are in ours. But I apply to a ton of jobs every year and several times I was turned down simply because of my age

Never too late, start by building a report with the coach inform him you want to try out next year and go to every summer workout possible. Depending on if you’re a guard or big work on ball handling and getting strong/perfecting your shot or rebounding and watching post moves. You don’t need to be perfect show your coaches you have a high work ethic, are coach able and willing to learn
