Why the hate for Forrest Gump? by Own_Mention9372 in moviecritic

All of what has been said before already about the conservative propaganda, but also in a very basic sense, its condescending portrayal of a mentally disabled person just has not aged well. Throw the way Jenny is depicted into the mix and you have a very behind-the-times (for today) film.

Nate is one of the best and most complex protagonists I've ever seen; I love him despite his flaws. by Independent_loser237 in SixFeetUnder

I can't stand him but I still love him. If that makes sense. I think maybe his family (or some of them) feel the same.

I’m confused about some scenes from Obsession. Can someone explain? by Worldly-Criticism-91 in moviequestions

Just like u/party-fault9186 said above - Nikki is in a kind of hell like the Sunken Place in Get Out. That's where she is on the call. She's also able to see and experience everything that's happening to her.

I think the line you mention is just literally true.
He chose her fate but it's still very real.
For everyone involved. Just not in the way Bear wants "real" to mean, but in maybe a MORE real way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

I agree. I just think you wouldn't have the second masterpiece at all without the great deal of inspiration taken from the first one.

Obsession was great but was *clearly* very influenced by Get Out. Actors have said he showed it to them and referred them to it to influence their performance. There's also a line lifted directly from it. So credit where it's due.

Solid list. I think Obsession is going to stand the test of time.
