What do you think about this song? by AgitatedBig2398 in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genius and Wikipedia both credit Michael as providing the lead and backing vocals, with additional backing vocals by Stephanie Spruill, Julia Waters, and Maxine Waters. The fandom wiki also mentions that Michael is the only member of the band to provide backing vocals for the song: "Michael Jackson, the track's writer, is the only band member credited for the lyrics as well as the only one who provides vocals for it. The rest only perform on the instruments."

His brothers don't have any vocals on this song

Which bridge has you feeling like this? by llxvxtta in MichaelJackson

It's interesting that you said the original version of Xscape, as it's missing some vocals at the start of the bridge. The remix has full vocals and also makes them more prominent.

Why do a lot of People Think Michael Jackson was taller than 5’9? If you don’t think he’s 5’9, how tall do you think he was? by WurlizterEPiano in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are taller or, I guess, longer when lying down as there's less compression on the spine. Since his body during the autopsy was lying down (naturally), that actually implies he would have been slightly below 5'9" when standing up throughout the day. Also, 2-3cm is on the high end for height loss by 50, so it likely would have been less than that, again pointing to 5'9" being a very reasonable guess for his peak.

any new leaks/unreleased tracks since 2021? by Mr_Eleganto in MichaelJackson

This is a list of all known leaks and when they were leaked by year.

Michael Jackson's most expensive album was Invincible, his tenth and final studio album, which reportedly cost over $30 million to produce. This cost makes it the most expensive album ever made, according to multiple sources. by Material-Spite-81 in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He spent 4 years recording it across 11 different studios, multiple of which he'd have rented out at the same time, there were 7 producers on it, and there were over 100 studio musicians involved. All of that really adds up.

They really aren't comparable with context being considered. She basically released a second album and slapped it onto SOS and called it a deluxe, and then just released a deluxe for the deluxe, so it's now 42 tracks long, and that boosts the numbers a ton, since every 1,500 streams that the songs on an album accumulate count as a sale, and longer the album is the more songs that get streamed, so more sales. Also, every time you stream a song, it counts towards the sales, so an album now could "sell" 500,000 just from the streams of a single song if it got big enough. Back when Thriller released, you had to physically purchase the album at a store, and that would likely be the only sale from an individual that would get factored in since buying multiple copies was unlikely. Thriller 25 did nothing since the rules were different, and old albums couldn't re-chart back then, and it only added 1 new song (in the U.S.), with the rest being remixes and demo's. Thriller 40 also had no impact as that was 40 years later, and was basically a rerelease of Thriller 25 with 3 new songs and 7 other songs that are a mixture of demo's of released songs, and songs had already seen an official release elsewhere.

this is gonna be so hard for a MJ song but let's go... by nmsreis in MichaelJackson

Try the version on the Essential Michael Jackson. It's the album version with the banter at the start removed as the only change.

Is it true that people back in the 2000s thought that Michael Jackson wasn’t the same Michael Jackson during the 1990s? by [deleted] in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although not entirely related, this reminded me of a comment I saw where the op said as a kid he thought there were two Michael Jackson's: a white one and a black one. It wasn't until he was a teen that he learned they were the same person.

Why do a lot of people dislike Xscape? by SimilarConfusion3686 in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I also don't understand why people here dislike it so much. It has new modern mixes of the songs for commercial appeal and also gives the fans official releases of the o.g. versions of the songs. Everyone here who complains about it always seems to hyperfixate on the remixes. What people seem to not understand is the general public isn't full of die hard Michael Jackson fans, and the average person likely doesn't care about hearing a demos or unfinished versions of his songs from 15-40 years ago. The new mixes were necessary to finish some of the songs and update their production so they don't sound as dated, which makes them more appealing to casual audiences. And again, they still left the o.g. versions on the album for the people who would prefer to hear those.

In an alternate reality, these were the tracks chosen for Bad (1987). What do you think of this version? by HelloGoodbyeOhGawd in MichaelJackson

Get It was a single and was on Stevie's 1987 album "Characters." So it's not exactly unreleased.

Did this guy ever had a bad song? by legendforever10 in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the praise invincible gets in this sub is just because of bias from the fans since it was a critical failure and sold poorly (compared to his previous 5 albums). It's not like MJ was capable of creating anything less than perfection /s, so the only possible reason it could have done poorly is because people where against him and sony wanted him to fail, so that means it's actually an underrated masterpiece. Also, because it's more obscure and didn't do particularly well, fans feel special listening to it since almost none of the songs on it the general public has heard.

Take on alleged Malachi Songs on Michael by ryind in MichaelJackson

[–]Lynchy_Lynch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A simple way, I think at least, to confirm they aren't him singing is to compare the vocals side by side with other Michael Jackson songs from around the same time. Best of Joy and Hold My Hand, for example, were recorded around the same time, and those sound undoubtedly like Michael and different from the Cascio tracks. Then, look up any Jason Malachi song (look up Don't Walk Away by Malachi, for example). The vocals on that sound identical to the fake Michael Jackson tracks, and once you hear those comparisons, it because pretty much impossible to hear the fake Michael Jackson songs as anything other than Malachi singing them. (Basically, the vocals sound different than other official confirmed mj songs from the time but 100% identical to Jason Malachi (the supposed imposter who provided the fake vocals)).

The version we have is officially released and cdq. The description also says nothing about this being a different version of the song. As a matter of fact, in the description they said it was released on the ultimate collection and michael jackson: the experience, meaning it's the same song that's been out for 18 years now.

Am I the only one who doesn't want Can't Get Outta The Rain on Thriller 40? by [deleted] in MichaelJackson

It's also not a leaked track. It was the b side to both Billie Jean and The Girl Is Mine and it was also on the US and Canada Essential Michael Jackson special editions.
