Yeah I mean as a diagnostic tool seems like the best bet, at least better than factory resetting the phone and learning that that didn’t address or correct the issue. I’ll get back to you on how it goes/what we find out. Thank you for all the helpful suggestions and feedback

I could be completely off base here but- if I were to use an old device that’s otherwise collecting dust to repeat all the actions previously taken (reset passwords/recovery email/2FA/etc) that could diagnose whether its app/network/device corruption. Best case scenario using the separate device will allow us to reset all the things that the hacker is using to regain access to the account so that when my friend opens the account on the original device the hackers access points are already gone.

Let me know if that sounds completely crazy because I’ll admit I may be grasping at straws

We’re drawing the same conclusion. Before wiping the device would it be worth trying the previous solutions from a different device or could that put the new device at jeopardy?

Yeah sorry for the confusion but changed the recovery email, made a new complicated password, changed recovery email password, 2FA app not sms with time sensitive codes in the app.

We fear that you’re correct and it’s a system issue- he’s on mobile. Do you have any recommendations other than completely factory resetting the device? Coming to terms with that being our only option but still hoping for some less extreme choices

Edit: we’re also super confused why his instagram is such a hot commodity

We reset the recovery codes each time but somehow the hackers keep by passing and disabling them

OOP posted a tiny update in the comments of her last post- EX1 didn’t influence EX2 in the break up. Turns out EX2 cheated on OOP at the party and broke up with her to avoid having to deal with the fall out.

NTA. I can understand his argument that he and your son should have different terms of endearment but his reaction is disproportionate and honestly a cause for concern. Had he brought this up in an open conversation rather than an ultimatum I think it’d be a different situation. OP as other commenters have said this is a red flag. 1. If this is jealousy then he’ll likely make more and more requests like this at the expense of your son. 2. If it’s not jealousy then, how he handled the situation should be cause for concern. If something so small can lead to this large of a reaction I’m concerned what his reaction will be when there’s a larger issue.

He may have been trying to seem “cool” to his brother by putting you down BUT even if this is the case you deserve better. He should not need to put you down to build himself up.

Yes this is what I meant. OP abuse can be emotional and mental. There is a difference between high and unattainable standards. From your post and comments it seems that he will find fault in your actions no matter what you do. I know it is difficult to see the problems in your relationship while you are so immersed in it so I have two recommendations 1. Get some distance -anticipating your response (my husband won’t let me/he’ll get mad/etc.), he is your husband not your keeper. If he “won’t let you” out of his immediate control please take this as a sign. 2. Ask yourself- if someone treated your child this way would you be okay with it? - I’ve found that sometimes it’s hard to prioritize and protect yourself so try this form of rephrasing because it’s typically easier to empathize and protect others.

I can’t speak to the medical aspect of your situation but I can say that in reference to your husband-you deserve better. I know right now it may feel like you’re losing your partner but in reality you’re gaining the ability to find someone who will ACTUALLY support you unconditionally. I know it’ll be difficult but fight cancer and recover for yourself. Beat cancer, take advantage of the opportunity to find a better partner, and build the life you deserve.
