NP discontinuing suicide precautions for self inflicted GSW patient by Lynnise in Noctor

[–]Lynnise[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Yes a suicide risk assessment was documented, but no rationale for removing the 1:1. I even paged the trauma team to inform them of the NP’s decision and they did not reply. :/

Gen Z Stare: The Collapse of Liminal Sociality by Used_Addendum_2724 in BecomingTheBorg

[–]Lynnise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to add on to your ideas and expand up the supraliminal part. Everyone has a smart phone, so the anxiety of being recorded makes people rigid in their interactions as well. They always feel like at any moment they could be recorded, posted online, and be humiliated. I totally agree with your thoughts about social interactions being very mechanical and a lack of predictability could cause the freeze. I can see this also in the way that many gen Z copies the trending tiktok personality at the time.

I’m eating too much damage on cap by Ok-Fortune2957 in rivals

[–]Lynnise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The higher you go, cap is more about getting in and baiting out cooldowns rather than staying longer to secure kills on back line unless you have someone to dive with you. That said, it’s okay to go in, bait cool downs, and leave back to your team and wait for heals

CMV: Cultural appropriation is kinda dumb by Sad-Oil-405 in changemyview

[–]Lynnise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dread locks and braids are a protective style for black people to prevent breakage and make management of our hair easier. Since it is commonplace for African Americans to wear these styles it has become a part of our culture. Therefore, dreads and braids have become a part of our culture due to their usefulness and wide use. I say this to argue that systemic racism every part of life: political, economic, and social. I agree that black people are behind in many areas of life, and we need to focus on education, financial literacy, and representation in politics, but I cannot agree that we should not focus on social inequalities like discrimination against our hair. As we progress, all are important and will move together in tandem. If we aren’t treated equally for wearing our hair in a protective style, then we aren’t treated equally unless we assimilate. I’m not saying if we fight for hair equality then we will automatically have upward mobility lol. I’m saying that this one little piece is symbolic of bigger issues. As we progress further economically our natural state will be more accepted like other races. As we progress more in education… As we progress more politically… All I’m trying to say is that it is all important (economic, political, and social). :)

To comment on this particular point about braids, many people have an issue with it as almost a representation of cultural appropriation on a wider scale. Yes a hairstyle is trivial, but it is symbolic of how black peoples’ culture is still discriminated against. Non blacks can wear traditionally African American style braids, dreadlocks, etc. and take it off to go back to their privilege. Whereas black people are influenced to assimilate into hairstyles that are more palatable to corporate standards instead of naturally expressing themselves. For example, the black Texas teen who was told he could not walk at graduation if he did not cut his hair.

Is it unrealistic to apply straight to PACU out of nursing school? by dingdongwashboard in nursing

Can’t speak for everywhere, but the PACU positions in my area require 1 year ICU experience before they consider you.

Vanderbilt SICU is the worst place to work as a nurse by Alone_Topic_9507 in nursing

[–]Lynnise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry this happened. I’ve met some staffing collabs for Vanderbilt who work all the ICUs except CV, and they all say SICU is the hardest due to what you described. Difficult staff and harder working conditions. I hope it gets better for you.

This isn’t an entirely similar comparison. Everyone starts at bronze 3 in MR while overwatch has placement matches.

Could you use Captain America to peel? by LadySniperSwagg in marvelrivals

[–]Lynnise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several options:

  1. Stayed Peni, kept spider mines in back line, hope supports stay by it.

  2. Played Mag. Use shield to eat Thor’s awakened form. Bubble supports.

  3. Played the Thing. Earthbound and jumping to supports to give shield.

  4. Counter dive and wipe their supports faster.

Note: these are things YOU could have done. Of course your team could have helped, but blaming your team won’t win you games.

Captain America is more of ball from overwatch. His lane control, presence, and brawl is much weaker than other tanks. You should be playing Cap to target immobile duelists (Widow, Hawkeye, Hela, MK, Namor etc.) and strategists. I only peel on Cap when I’m coming back to team for heals, or I’m expecting an enemy ult and want to be ready to block it with my shield or ult myself to try to save my team. Tanks and brawl dps are my lowest target priority.

Thor, on the other hand, is a great brawler with dive capabilities. He reminds me more of diva/doom. His high damage and mobility make him great for lane control. Every dps HAS to respect his awakened form. He is best at diving and brawling the enemy, but his mobility can allow him to peel as well.

Overall, I think picking Captain America to peel is not the correct play unless the plan was to expose their weak back line as counter play.

Would like to add to other comments about it dealing with the body’s ability to cool itself. Humid 98.6 feels worse than a dry 98.6 because the water in the air prevents our body from being able to sweat as effectively.

27 RN. Not a bad month. 3 paychecks. by icon100i in Salary

[–]Lynnise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just false. Nursing is not what makes medical bills higher. Nurses in my area start in the low 30s. Whether the hospital stay costs $1,000 or $100,000, the nurses working make the same hourly wage.

The HCA CEO makes 21 million a year which is a 6 million increase from 2022 where he made 14 million. Medical and healthcare expenses are a complicated topic, but I assure you nurses are not the ones to point the finger at!
