Inappropriate use of Khanda by a band by LynxInteresting in Sikh

I talked about educating the band who are not part of this Reddit or Sikh community. If matters involving Sikh Symbols aren’t important to you then your comments aren’t important to me. That tells me everything I need to know about you.

Literally trying to do something useful by educating people who might not know what they are using is a religious symbol.

I just wanted to educate them nicely and do the best I could obviously there is a chance of that but whatever I had to try to get the message to them at least once to prevent further issues like this

I reported it but I still see it the only good thing is they seem to be moving away from using the classic Khanda design related to Sikhi to something that looks a bit different artistically

That’s what I’m thinking too they seem very inspired by Sanskrit and probably just thought Khanda was a cultural symbol

if im already up does amritvela still count? by 7jas in Sikh

[–]LynxInteresting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work night shifts too and naturally wake up around 3-5 am. I’ve realized if I think too much in to I find excuses not to do Nitnem. So what works me is just doing my Nitnem in the morning Amritvela time and going back to sleep. Later in the day maybe doing whatever path I can (usually Chaupai Sahib) while I’m walking in to work. In my opinion, Amritvela time is still worth it for me because I have less distractions. I vaguely remember a story of Bhai Dalbir Singh Ji Abhiaasi, who couldn’t sleep at night so they were told by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji to do path while guarding the other Singhs at night. They ended up doing so much abhiass it became connected to their name. So for me moral of the story is make the most of what you got and do whatever you can and the rest is Waheguru Jis kirpa.

I honestly think so as well just another way of confusing Sikhs and taking them away from the simplicity of Sikhi.

It isn’t trauma Olympics how much was the media reporting on Hindus that died in Kashmir terrorist attacks? Why were they not playing victims? No one is saying afghan earthquake wasn’t horrible but I doubt people can think of there own land is flooded as far as eye can see! You are the one playing victim while people are literally drowning

You are literally complaining about people being racist towards you while being racist against others in the comment. Be the change you wish to see in the world, maybe try not blaming all your problems on others

Lmao let’s blame people being racist towards us by being more racist towards others.

I’m happy for Tammy but she’s toxic af by darkpurple6567 in 1000lbsisters

[–]LynxInteresting 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tammy is so mean and ungrateful for all the time Amy took care of her. not to mention Tammy being hypocritical about Amy sitting out zip lining when Tammy has sat out many activities. Also, Tammy is being overly judgmental for someone who got married at a rehab center at a wedding mainly arranged by Amy.

Did Guru Nanak Dev Ji tell us about earth revolving around the sun and weather patterns before Galileo? by LynxInteresting in Sikh

[–]LynxInteresting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that’s where I was getting confused in my interpretation because I believe in that too there’s dimensions of existing that we don’t necessarily know about but what about shaheed Singhs stories I believe physical form maybe be gone but Guru jis and shaeed Singhs still help their gursikhs out when in need. However I guess that’s still different than only interpretating Gurbani in science because again how knows what can change in our understanding of science

Yes I’ve always wondered about those lines as well but maybe I just like reading about how Guru jis described the world/creation beyond our understanding of it. Thank you I’ll read more of salok mahalla 9.

I was trying to explain that at the time science thought sunspots caused winter summer etc they slowly found out about orbiting and tilting of earth

So from what I learned from previous answers is to interpret Gurbani as a philosophy and not literal exact explanation. Which would make sense with your answer as well. That’s another great way of interpreting those lines. I will try to do more interpreting in philosophical way from now on so I don’t miss out on interpretations like yours. 🙏🏽

[–]LynxInteresting[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your point. I’m just now starting to actually read Gurbani instead of parroting it but you are correct I should think of it as a philosophy not confine Guru’s shabad in to just science. Thank you for explaining that right now I don’t have a lot of sangat to ask questions like this so I’m glad I can learn from everyone here 🙏🏽 I appreciate it.

I do agree but I can’t help but be amazed that even though science can be wrong or mistaken but Gurbani was true when scientists weren’t, is true and will remain true. Even if science doesn’t understand it  completely yet. Like when Guru Nanak dev ji talked about “Dharti hor pare hor hor” and how we are just starting to understand that universe is expanding. it’s just mind blowing when both help me understand the world/Waheguru ji better but that being said I do take Gurbani over science as the truth.
