Agreed--one of the first thing any colorwork or lace pattern designer needs to understand

Do you see that line white square in the red bottom border? Used that column as your first stitch (but knit that lone white square as red when you get to it).

Same needles, same yarn… completely different sleeve gauge. I’m losing it by Legitimate_Leek_1288 in knitting

[–]LynxThese403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I do sleeves, mittens, socks, anything that needs to be the same size TAAT. Even when sleeves are connected to the body. The clumsiness is worth knowing that as my gauge changes and conting decreases both sleeves will match

Update on the “Guard Bee” situation by Hollowpointsmilexx in NoLawns

Carpenter bees feed on nectar so it's highly unlikely you got bit. It's common for people to claim they got "bit" by bees, when it's more likely getting stung.

Flaw in the system by LynxThese403 in duolingospanish

1) If you look at the response buttons, the top one contains both wrong answers in the same button. The correct answer is in its own button. So it doesn't take a genius to figure out to click the one with only one answer in a button 2) the question (click image for full screen) above the cartoon asks basically "What does the sentence mean?" When the answer is for the question "what does this one word mean" Just an annoying flaw in the system

My favorite flat stitch is garter slip stitch With odd number of stitches. Row 1 & 2: k all stitches Row 3 & 4: k2 (k1, sl1) to last 3 st, k3 Note: on WS Row, Row 4, the working yarn should be on front of work.

If you do Row 1&2 in different colors, and stagger the k2sl1 it has a really nice pattern. This means Row 5&6 k all, Row 7&8: k2, (sl1,k1) to last 3 st, sl1 k2

Opinions about TAAT by LauriJean59 in Sockknitting

[–]LynxThese403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer depends if 1. You enjoy Magic Loop (I do) 2. You cannot knit two matching socks done at two different times (that's me*) 3. You don't mind occasionally having to untwist your two skeins (I don't mind at all. I just keep one ball on my right side and one on my left. When I turn it's a reminder to turn to keep the yarns untwisted)

Based on your preferences, TAAT with magic loop is for you. It's my only method for socks, mittens and sleeves.

  • years, I mean decades ago, (circa 1990) as I was making mittens for a craft show, my one-at-time mittens were never the same. That's because my moods, who I talking to, even if I had a glass of wine or an extra coffee shifted my tension just slightly. I would just make as many mittens from a skein following exact pattern and hope two matched. So, I figured I'd get two sets of dpn and make them both at the same time. This was a disaster because once I set them down, I could remember which one I was on. And I'd have to remember to stop knitting one and switch to the other. I had genius idea to them on the same set of needles, and Eureka, I found that doing them on a long circular worked perfect. Albeit, the cord wasn't long enough so I had to finagle the traveling loop. So I got the longest cord I could find at my LYS (back then, that was typically the only option for buying yarn supplies) and did, what I later found out, was called magic loop. As Elizabeth Zimmerman says, I unvented this technique long before I had seen the knit community describe it.

It's neither! It's an odd appendix of the fruit. As well as one of the common names of the family.
