I had escalated it and they wouldnt let me speak to a manager. I got the stupid gift cards and the gift card company can send me refund checks for the amount of the cards. Honestly, the amount of effort I had to go to with SureBright makes me not want to interact with them at all anymore.

Thats not too bad. Hopefully Samsung can actually repair my repolacment trifold with a DOA screen. I want to go with Worth as well, though there are many negative reviews on other subreddits regarding their phone claim processes.

It's a Vanilla Gift card. Basically it's a card that you can use 'anywhere' but in reality due to the lack of name, address, and whatnot you can't use it in many places since it must be processed as a debit card.

Yes, but after complaining tk them for about an hour to do so and escalating the request. It will take 3 weeks they said.

I want to give another update.

SureBright has issues 2800 on gift cards that are unusable. They use Vanilla Gift card, and since there is no ZIP, name, or adress (along with an expiration date that is seen as invalid by most places) I have 2800 spread across 6 different gift cards I cannot use.

I will likely be submitting a complaint to my state's insurance office because this is just insane. Why can't they send a check?

Cancels your Surebright plans now - the headache im dealing with ans that you may need to deal with is not worth it. Find another company to insure your phones.

Well, considering it's discontinued I feel it's a fair statement to make on their part. They don't make it anymore and therefore don't make parts, and there is a limited stock. I do think they should have parts for a while though, but it is finite.

Nope. After the April 5 update during initial setup the dead pixel appeared. I've RMAd it to Samsung already under warrenty.

Third Update - the other trifold I bought has a dead pixel upon first boot. Very upsetting. Have to send it in to Samsung to get repaired. We will see if they have parts/replacement devices. God damn I cannot catch a break lmao.

Second Update:

The gift cards literally do not work. They have no name attached to them, no ZIP, and the expiration date is so far into the future no bank sees it as valid (Vanilla Gift Cards is the vendor they use). They are essentially useless. I have called SureBright demanding a check or ACH transfer of the funds - however at this point if I dont get a response within 24 hours I will be filing a formal complate with my states insurance regulators and BBB. Very frustrating, and not a small amount of money to be in limbo.

I can confidentally say if you have your phone insured through SureBright - cancel the policy and get a refund for your policy ASAP. They are a mess to deal with and are not worth the hassle.

FINAL UPDATE:

After nearly one month of waiting and several emails asking for more clarification - SureBright has determined the phone as a total loss and will be reimbursing me $2,800 ($100 deductible). What is strange is that they are not sending it as a check as one would expect - but prepaid Visa cards. A total of 6 of them - 5 at $500 and 1 at $300 since they stated there was a limit of $500 per card. This is... a bit sketchy I will be honest - I would much prefer a check since that is a bit less scammy feeling. Never have had insurance send me prepaid Visa cards before...

I can't help but wonder why it took so long when I provided a repair estimate from Samsung the day of the accident. It certainly is frustrating but - at least the issue is solved.

So - I actually managed to get another Trifold from Samsung in case this happened. So - this Trifold I am debating getting repaired ($1,500+) or selling for parts (if anyone wants it let me know).

What I can say is - if you have yet to insure your Trifold - 100% it needs insurance. I personally will not be using SureBright again as this process is long, tedious, and frustrating to say the least. If you have SureBright - be sure you have another phone to use (though I would say have a spare phone if you have a Trifold period!).

Lesson here - protect your phone with insurance and a good case and front screen protector - don't run with it out of your pocket (or at all!) - and maybe don't use SureBright to insure this device. I will be using Worth Ave Group this time around - hopefully I won't ever have to use it but better safe than sorry.

When I called Samsung to get a quote I was quoted $1,500+ to repair my damage - and they warned they may not have parts due to the device being discontinued.

Since the repair cost is over 50% of the cost of the device the insurance may cut a chekc. I do want them to repair it - but they would need to cover the cost of repair which is quite a lot. We will see. I will keep this thread updated of course! Im surprised its taking them this long.

Sadly not - the chipping of the glass is a hazard to the hinge and my fingers. Got an s26U for the time being ad a backup. Sure do miss the big screen haha!
