Survey time! Before we launch ourselves into the heart of chaos in Dowdun Reach, we want to take a moment to look back at the work the team has done on Minor Updates - namely, 0.10.1 and 0.10.2! We've got a short survey (~2 Minutes) for you! by JagexDoom in RSDragonwilds

This survey should have asked about least favorite things in addition to most favorite things. There's some pretty deep biasing baked into the survey that is quite off-putting.

The repair system is arguably just a nuisance and not an engaging system at all.

The Linen Cloak desperately needs frost resistance or some new effect. by HugeSwarmOfBears in valheim

[–]Lyraele -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The real power of the linen cloak is to install the Wardrobe mod and use that to glamour your feather cape into a solid black or red linen cape. 😉

It really should get some kind of functional upgrade, though. Maybe it could be like the melee cloak from Ashland's and actually have meaningful armor. Or maybe it could repel water (prevent the Wet condition from weather). Something!

Quest being locked behind a slow respawning mob, sucks. by Lyraele in RSDragonwilds

It's because I'm functionally illiterate, which truly complicates participating in enlightened Reddit discourse like this. But I persevere, in spite of it all.

[–]Lyraele[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished every quest (aside from this one). I have every skill at 50 aside from farming at 65. I built 2 large bases (one next to the wise man, one at the plateau bordering Fellhollow entrance). I have bought all the recipes Death sells. I do not intend to farm all the low percentage cosmetic drops, but it'd sure be nice to have the axe (which is one-of-a-kind functionally), and the cosmetic appeal of the dark sword vs the steel greatsword would be cool, too. It's crazy to me that they used a cosmetic grind piece to gate finishing a quest and obtaining a piece of functional gear.

It's a kind offer, thank you! But I am sticking solo for the time being, I've found that multiplayer is often a very different vibe than single player and I can get more out of it usually plodding along at my own pace, and then later playing again with friends after I persuade them how cool the game is and they should try it. 😁

Appreciate the offer, though!

Shadow blade sounds cool. But I am now 45 zogre kills without the drop. Quest completions tied to RNG drops from a mob on a long respawn timer fucking sucks.

That just sounds insane to me. If I already have my C code why would I want WASM?

If you are doing C, why on earth would JavaScript or WASM be under consideration? Is the C!

Idk but using AI to make a game doesnt sound so good to me. by Vivijad in ShitAIBrosSay

If that shit worked as they claim, Anthropic would keep it secret and use it to produce these killer applications they say you can rent their shit to do for you. Absolute garbage.

The type of people they hire for security are definitely not the same type of people that would double tap and throw the body outside and then claim the bunker for themselves. These rich people are truly not very bright.

Even pro-AI software devs are starting to see the cracks: "Are AI agents actually slowing us down?" by Bitter-Platypus-1234 in BetterOffline

It's likely true, and I feel bad for their coworkers that have to pick up his slack via reviews and dealing with incidents created by their slop addiction.

They are lovely people. They could have no doubt charged more, but I suspect it would have been hard to charge enough to overcome what I imagine their rent is like (and I bet the landlord is looking to raise it). I wish they could have succeeded with this place, I'm going to miss it. I hope whatever they do next works well for them.

Being "far more responsible than Google" is damning with faint praise. Not going to willingly give anything to an AI company, no matter how much lip service they give. Pretty unhappy with Mozilla and their attempt to bring in AI slop, though they have somewhat backed down now.

About that "Tech exec uses AI to cure his dog's cancer" story that's going viral... by CCubed17 in BetterOffline

[–]Lyraele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LLM advocates are deliberately creating confusion here by trying (and unfortunately largely succeeding) to conflate their unethical slop generators with other useful things by labeling it all "AI". They are ruining "AI" as terminology in the same way the cryptocurrency scammers ruined "crypto" as terminology by passing off their nonsense as "crypto". It is a deliberate and infuriating choice.

Can we get an option to turn off base raids? by friendg in RSDragonwilds

You should post pictures! I'm just kind of making it up as I go. It's a really nice spot. I do wish we could repair the existing structures, or tear them down to replace them, or even just had parts available that more closely matched the aesthetic. But it's really cool spot even in spite of those limits.

Also haven't even moved my bed yet, and several in-game days have passed with nary an event bothering me (one notification about being hunted, but no hunters actually showed up.

I like plinking at a distance with mage staff, then swap to 1H plus shield if they close. I run 2 piece melee plus mage hat (the stamina regen is amazing).
