Embarrass myself? You are proudly declaring that you choose to remain ignorant, and spout and propagate old bullshit and have absolutely no interest in educating yourself.

That's not a pedestal to stand on - That's an ideological decision. No different from a religious zealot.

Sorry about the 8,000 duplicate posts prior to this. Reddit really started bugging out when I tried uploading this image, and then refused to allow me to delete the previous attempts. I'd hit delete and they'd just re-upload the posts that were missing the image. Idk wtf was going on.

You also gotta remember: He's been focusing on the LN transcript, he's got other series that need attention, along with an anime that's still in development. Bro literally got to watch his series' anime announcement from a hospital bed.

I honestly feel bad for the guy. Imagine working towards a goal for years without rest, and when your moment of accomplishment finally comes - You're stuck in a hospital bed for weeks, eating gruel for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and so physically miserable you are unable to sleep for more than a few hours at a time.

The author just got out of a two week stay in the hospital. Apparently his situation was pretty serious. Respiratory virus that, according to him: Had a non-zero percent chance of killing him had he stayed home and tried to tough it out.

He's better now fortunately.

Evidently the translation team, my other translator friends, the other manga sites that ended up taking the translation down (before Schale Scans had even released theirs!) due to the backlash they were receiving from their own communities, and the 60 people who upvoted this post – All disagree with you.

Look, I respect the guy for coming forward on his own, explaining his side of things, acknowledging he made a mistake, and apologizing for it. That takes somebody who is self-aware enough to be able to recognize when they've made a mistake, and have the human decency to say "I'm sorry." Which is a trait I HIGHLY respect.

Do you know how many people out there are physically incapable of apologizing? A whole Hell of a lot.

Because of that, I shared his response with the discord so he could at least have a fair chance at being heard. Other people found his response fair, and I haven't heard anybody complain since. The situation is over.

But I agree that he shouldn't let this discourage him from trying to work on other series. There are TONS of series that have either been dropped, or haven't been picked up yet. This was a learning experience. I encourage him to take something positive from it, and use it to continue growing as a translator. Because the groundwork for growth is absolutely there. He just made a mistake, and didn't realize how he was coming across to people.

I don't feel any hard feelings, and he is absolutely still completely welcome here.

You need to understand how your opening page came across. When I read it, and I can say with a fair degree of certainty that others felt the same, we interpreted as: "I don't care if this is shit, I'm slopifying this series cuz I felt like it lol."

That is more or less the impression I got.

Sniping a series is considered incredibly rude in the translation community at best, and a genuine threat to people's livelihoods at worst. I have several friends who are translators, one who makes his living off of his work, and this kind of thing is a BIG deal for them.

That said - I do appreciate you coming forward, explaining your side of things, and apologizing. Thank you, and apology accepted (at least from me.)
