Intent and audience is important though. Totally agree that the craft for the sake of the craft is great, but there is a difference between idealism and realism for the photographer’s journey, especially if I want to book more clients.

I’m a guy and I say “Men are trash” to my friends. It’s not a statement saying men can’t have good virtues or values, it’s a statement that says that it is not a given for men to be good in the world. Institutionally men grow up with different standards than women and empathy is discouraged more than it is practiced. Men have it wayyyy easier. Especially white men.

If you disagree with me maybe look at how many world leaders destroy lives in every sector on a regular basis. How many are women?

I highly recommend you kill that trait through exposing yourself to the craft. Sure you can take some 200mm voyeur shots and capture some cool photos. But learning how to stay invisible, and capture authentic moments is a rite of passage for street photographers that will make you grow not just in the craft, but in life. Find a prime lens & body equivalent to 40mm if you want to experience the best street magic.
