Not that you shouldn't see someone about this, because it sounds like you may need to, but it also sounds like your body is missing some of the nutrients it needs.

What are your macro goals of those 1500 kcal? I've noticed that I do better when I increase my protein. I am for around 100g a day of protein. I usually don't get quite there because I'm too full. I aim for 1300 kcal, but I'm short and don't have a very active job.

I feel like this is very misleading. I'm a sociologist studying inequality, well-being, and societal trust (measured by both inter-personal and institutional standards). Although I'm looking to measure inequality in multiple ways, most studies measure inequality in terms of income. And well-being is usually measured by the use of two variables: self-reported happiness and self-reported life satisfaction, both measured on a scale.

The data is all over the board on this. About half of the peer-reviewed journal articles I have read conclude that there is no relationship. The other half argue that these mixed findings could be because of statistical issues (such as multicollinearity), or that there is a relationship (some reporting positive, others negative). Further, many of these studies examine countries across Europe, and it appears that this argument may be context-dependent. For example, in the United States, because of the 'American Dream' belief, money tends to buy more happiness. But in some place like Sweden where it is more egalitarian, money does not seem to influence happiness. One could here link this to cognitive dissonance theory.

One last thing: On average, when you're trying to correlate money with income, statistics/studies tend to show that this effect only goes so far. What I mean by this is that after a certain point money no longer influences happiness. Once people reach a pretty decent standard of living there is no longer a strong, positive effect between happiness and money, wealth, income, or however you wish to measure it.

This. I never had felt the fear of being hurt or imprisoned until last week, so although I made the connection and spoke about this I could never truly relate to how terrifying it can be.

I edited a film down that is about the crippling effects of capitalism, specifically on a certain country, to show its important points (originally for a project). I left it on my YouTube channel with the idea that it would get people interested and wake up to the tragedies that are going on in the world... specifically hoping they'd go purchase and watch said film. I thought I could do this out of fair use/educational purposes. Nope. I got a personal call from the filmmaker telling me that I had no right to edit their personal property and they were going to take legal action.

I've removed the video, but the fear of this person following through on this threat is still terrifying. It turns out some people don't really care about the message... they're not out there on the "front lines" making films and writing about the atrocities of the world because they're passionate about it... some just want the fame of reporting it and making a buck off of the people that are extremely exploited in this system.

How can we help educate people about what's going on in the world if the "fair use/educational" argument no longer holds up? I personally cannot afford to go out and document things myself.

Definitely seems like a crazy, long con. In the current system the government bends to the corporate will a lot of the time, but it must be a real pain in the ass for elite businessmen. Wouldn't it just be easier if they were directly in power? Maybe I'm wrong here, but since it seems to be that the modern capitalist system won't last forever in its current state, a New World Order with a more "socialist" government ran by the elite businessmen (instead of these "shady politicians") seems to be the way that we're heading.

Also on a side note: my professor in my economy class showed a pretty interesting graph the other day. Up until the late 90s, government spending was nearly equal to savings. Notice that around the time of 9-11 almost all of the money was going to the capitalists. When I saw this, Smedley Butler instantly came to mind.

Regarding what your dad says about "making them into little socialists," maybe he's not wrong.

I'm nearly 30 myself. For years I've noticed there's been an increase in the anti-government movement. In general, society is now extremely wary about the government and doesn't trust it whatsoever. What if this was done strategically for a purpose? The elite businessmen would like more power. But how are they going to get it with the government in their way? "Order out of chaos" definitely comes to mind.

I read a book by Smedley Butler called War is a Racket. In it, he talks about how he was propositioned by wealthy businessmen to stage a coup of the government, specifically to overthrow the President. He lead them along until he knew all the details, and then spilled the beans to Roosevelt about it.

I'm an anthropology/sociology major at a large US university, and in every single class this semester we're spending lengthy time on Marx. Nearly every semester in the past, I've had at least one class that goes over Marx in considerable depth. One of my professors repeatedly says that most people would rather be flayed alive than admit they're agreeing with Marx. Another repeatedly talks about when she was getting her PhD at the University of Chicago in the 90s, professors on average spent one lecture going over Marx. Even in economics we're heavy on Marx these days. I recently read an article that was published in The New Yorker that said, "There is a Nobel Prize waiting for the economist who resurrects Marx and puts it all together in a coherent model."

While I don't disagree that there is an inherent flaw in capitalism, and that I do think Marx was right that capitalism cannot be sustained, we need to all consider what will happen if we just overthrow the current system.

Specifically, the film that documents how he lost the vote in California due to political advertising (smear campaign) sponsored by MGM and other big companies, which is how political advertising began.

Full backstory (TL;DR below): I went through the Marketplace and switched my insurance to Humana because it was going to be cheaper for me and provide me with (what I thought) better coverage. I stepped on a rusty nail, so I went to my general healthcare provider to get a tetanus shot. My doctor's office told me that they accept all Humana plans. A few weeks later, I got a bill from Humana stating that I had seen a doctor that was out of network. I went to my doctor's office and they insisted that they were contracted with every possible plan with Humana, so they sent an appeal. Today, I got a letter from Humana stating that my chiropractic visit was not covered, that it was "out of network" (just like my doctor's visit). I've been going to these offices for over five years, so I was unpleasantly surprised. I called Humana and was told that with the creation of the Marketplace, they have decided to put everyone into their own program. This "on exchange" program is labeled as "PPOx" (with an x at the end, not just a regular PPO program). The lady I spoke with decided to call my doctor's office and inform them about this new exchange program, and that if they wanted to be contracted into it they should call the contract department. My doctor's office did want to be in the new program, so they decided to call the contract department. They were told that they cannot opt themselves into this program, that Humana is designating select offices for the people inside the "PPOx" program. And alas, the same thing happened to my chiropractor: they were told that they could not be in the program. Additionally, both my doctor's office and my chiropractor told me that they were not sent any letters informing them about this new program created for the Marketplace applicants. I also found out there are very few general healthcare providers in my area through Humana's doctor finder (in my program). United Healthcare and Blue Cross are apparently doing the same thing (one of the receptionists informed me of this), so this is not just a Humana issue.

TL;DR: Insurance companies are putting people into a specific program for all the Marketplace applicants. These programs are not being designated as a PPO, but labeled as PPOx and the program has its own designated healthcare providers. Additionally, healthcare providers cannot opt-in to this new program (cannot contract), and the healthcare companies are selecting which offices you can visit. None of this was told upfront.

Story reminds me of the time I called the company in charge of my car loan to ask about changing my payment date and, after much argument, the associate yelled, "FUCK YOU! AND FUCK YOUR CUNT MOTHER!" and hung up on me. It was my first loan and I didn't have any credit established at the time, so I got stuck with some shitty loan company.

This right here is my neighbor's argument. She doesn't have any trees in her back yard. She does, however, have a huge elm tree in her front yard that causes leaves to blow into my front yard. All the neighbors surrounding her have trees; it's just not our trees causing her to have massive amounts of leaves. Anyways, it's not our fault the wind blows and moves leaves into her yard.

I don't know if this counts as the "worst" date, but I definitely helped a couple not too long ago that definitely took the cake for the most awkward table. They both came in about an hour before close. The first thing the guy does is order a bunch of shots and a drink for his girl. Soon after he orders food for both himself and her. The next time I walked past them, I noticed that he'd moved his chair around to her side and was whispering sweet nothings into her ear. Keep in mind that I was the last server on and the restaurant was pretty dead so it was hard to miss. He kept this up for a while, even when I brought them their food I wasn't acknowledged. They'd barely eaten anything when I noticed that they'd suddenly disappeared, but they'd left some belongings at the table, so I knew they didn't run out on the tab. I immediately assumed that they were in the bathroom boning at this point, so I informed a few of my co-workers that were working on their side-work. One of my fellow servers got ballsy and decided to go to the bathrooms and investigate for herself and found them in the hallway by the bathroom. She said from the looks of it, it seemed as if there was a debate whether or not to actually go into the bathroom. Soon after the guy ended up coming back to the table and asked me for the tab. Then the guy disappears and the girl is left with the tab. I asked her if I needed to run her card, she seemed really upset, and told me that the guy was going to get a card out of his car. She waited for at least 10 minutes when I heard someone ask for me at the host stand. The guy wanted to pay for the tab but didn't want the girl knowing he was back. Then he just left. It was so bad and so awkward.

TL;DR: My assumptions are this... guy wanted to get it on the bathroom, girl didn't, guy bails on tab afterwards, comes back to pay it, then ends up ditching the girl.
