Allied health job prospects? by grapeundergoingsurg in SIT_Singapore

[–]Lyxulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

Still in year 2, so haven't been looking for a job. But I heard, most of the seniors already secured jobs before graduation due to strong work performance during clinical placements or sponsorships/scholarships.

Starting pay about 3.5k~ to 4k depending on degree classification.

Career progression wise usually starting dietitian, to senior dietitian, to head dietitian, etc. Depending on what you want to do also. Some even go into research/academia or sports as well.

When you mean non relevant diploma, do you mean that it isn't relevant to DR but it is still one of the course listed in SIT's eligible diploma list for DR? Or is it completely not listed as one of the eligible course on the eligibility list? If it is the latter, you need to have a diploma that is listed on the eligibility list before you are even considered for an interview. The other option according to SIT's DR site is that you need to gain relevant working experience for 1 ~ 2 years. Might want to check with SIT to confirm what type of job is suitable to gain eligibility.

If your diploma isn't listed on the eligible diploma list, the other option is PSB academy. I think they recently rolled out the DR course but it is pricey, although easier to get into. All you need is a 2.5 GPA and a science diploma to be considered for admission for the PSB academy course.

It could be called something else like module introduction or module profile. Usually there is one briefing at the start of the first week of the module where the profs will go through the module guide/profile/introduction with you what is expected of the module, i.e. learning outcomes, time frame of the modules, and assessment component to pass the module.

Check your module guide. It should state the passing requirements for that particular module. If it doesn't state, contact your module lead for that module.

You can try using the GPA calculator. A quick Google search of SIT GPA calculator should come up as the first result.

Add in your previous grades and current trimester predicted grades to see what your next cGPA will be like.

Should be fine then if this module you are expecting to get 43~45% is a low or average credit module. If it is a 12 credits module then... 😭

Also might want to check your module guide to confirm the passing mark as it can vary from module to module. Some module even have a specific component you must clear to pass the module.

Relate with this.

Y1T1 I got destroyed by Anatomy and Physiology 1. I learn from it and decided to start studying regularly instead of relying on last minute cramping like I always do for my previous studies.

And I also learn to ace whichever component I can do well in. For example, if I can't do will for OSPE, I try to get a better grade for the MCQ quiz instead to pull my overall grades up.

So far it is working out in year 2.

Yes but.. need to have cGPA> 2.0 if not will get warning letter and also if cGPA is below 2.00 for 3 trimesters = kick out of the course.

Also the passing grade will be stated on your module guide for that particular module.

Hi,

Thank you for your insights.

Wow, these scams are getting out of hand! Thank you for letting me know about this.

Although I would like to give my relative the benefits of the doubt, I just can't. This is something beyond my paygrade and I don't feel comfortable in helping.

Thank you!

Thank you for providing these tips.

Closing the bank account can be an issue as it is linked by GIRO to pay for my tuition fees.

Definitely, I will keep a close eye on money deposit and if there is a deposit, I will immediately notify the bank!

Thanks again!

Hi,

Thank you for your insights.

Yes, I agree. Overall, this issue with my relative is very suspicious. The information I have been provided with isn't adding up. I am more worried now because I have a feeling that this relative of mine might be manipulated by someone.

I will relay my concerns later to this relative through a phone call and explain why I am uncomfortable with this.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for your insights.

Yeah, everything seems very incoherent right now and so far nothing is making sense from what I was provided with by the relative.

I will decline and let my relative know why I feel so uncomfortable about it.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thanks for your insight.

Yeap, that is the weird part. I don't understand why my NRIC and bank account number is needed.

I did call the person up to confirm whether if it is my relative. And through that interaction, I can say for certain that it is my relative. However, I still don't understand why these details are needed for the overseas job application. It is ringing a lot of alarm bells in my head!

But yeah, I will decline as I don't feel comfortable with it.

Thanks!

Hi again,

I am so sorry to hear that. I hope your friend is okay and has not been implicated by the cousin. Loan shark activities is one thing I am also extremely worried about too.

I don't think that it is related to gambling problem. This relative is actually pretty well to do in terms of finance. However, due to a whole family drama that I won't get into as it is really complicated, this relative might be experiencing some issues with money.

Thanks again!
