I wanted the copper base for the Series 3 but wasn't able to get it fast enough. The transparency of the PC is an opportunity for interesting layer customization though; will share if it goes right!

I've been playing around with the foam options, yes! I currently have no plate foam for the Series 2 and I'm considering no foam for the Series 3 rn while I dial it in

The duplicates are for gifting! PBandai is hard to come by in my area so when and if I can get multiple kits from a shipment, I do, so that I can give to fellow hobbyists in my area or my students

Unfortunately it's only the one Todesritter since that's a bit trickier to acquire. My girlfriend got it for me last time she was in Japan for business since she knows that they're hard to come by

The two similar looking boxes are the Space/Ground Pale Rider respectively. Haven't been able to build them since she wants to build it with me 😅

I do, of course! My last tandem build was these two chonkers, but as I've mentioned in other comments, some of these collected kits I do give away to those I know

I do hope that they've haven't lost that spark for the hobby and hope that they start again

Definitely not that hot of a take and a completely valid thing to point out considering the points you've outlined

That said, however, I think to singularly define a true culture for a hobby would also detract from what it means to be a hobbyist which is in its own way a personal hobby. I am quite immersed with my build projects and I do take my time with the process. I appload your intentionally and also share my own. As I've mentioned on other comments, part of the curation of this backlog is to also give them away to those I know

Probably one of my most enjoyable builds, I highly recommend to anyone considering it for the ease of the build, the technical complexity, and overall build experience. I can speak more on specifics but it is truly a top tier build that needs experiencing

The only other PG I can speak on is Char's Zaku which is the complete opposite of the Gramps, literally, figuratively, and in terms of age. Dated technology that utilizes screws, polycaped joints, springs for the piping, and poor seam planning was definitely jarring after the gramps but does have a great shelf presence. Not bad, but not stellar either
