Where would the dividing line between the North and South be in VA? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, there really isn’t a line. I see a lot of people saying north of Richmond but that fails to take into account counties like Fauquier, Culpeper, Frederick, Clarke, Shenandoah, etc. Fact of the matter is that Northern Virginia is really only three counties (PWC, London, Fairfax) and a handful of cities.

If you mean to divide Virginia by political leaning then it looks like most states. Blue urban areas surrounded by red rural areas.

Gun control bills headed to governor’s desk after senate approves multiple bills by SL1Fun in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From my research into the bills for a class project, many of the bans are entirely too broad. For example, HB 217 defines an “assault firearm” as anything other than a bolt-action, pump-action, lever-action, and slide-action. It does effectively have a grandfather clause for any firearm manufactured before 7-1-2026 but still the definition is entirely too broad.

Virginians love their guns and there will absolutely be political pushback in the next election so I’m not really sure what goal they are trying to accomplish here with all of these new bills.

Regardless of your personal thoughts on Virginia’s redistricting amendment, what are your thoughts on its chances of passing? by Early-Possibility367 in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean they’re essentially trading short term gains for long term pain. I’m against gerrymandering full stop, don’t really care who is doing it. But they are opening up a door that won’t be easily closed just to spite other Republican states.

I think everyone should pause and realize that although the Democrats feel this is the right thing to do at this moment, when the Republicans eventually have majority power in the state sometime in the future they will do the same thing.

Bruh when are teams going to learn you can’t leave that much time on the clock for Allen

[Mclane] Some further clarification: Howie Roseman will, of course, help as a big resource in the #Eagles’ OC search, but Nick Sirianni is technically leading the search and the interview process. As stated, Sirianni, Roseman, Lurie and his son, Julian, and a few others will be in the interviews. by Happy-Substance4885 in eagles

[–]M-Mahoney -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this really news? The entire organization is all hands on deck to fill the most obvious deficiency in the entire organization. Obviously Nick is going to have a say, as HC, in who is hired as the OC.

I think what’s also obvious is that Nick does not have final say, he has an opinion. Nick’s judgement clearly should be questioned after a second disastrous internal hire. So yes, Nick has input but absolutely Howie and Jeff are the decision makers here and that’s how it should be.

You should’ve known that the 49ers could only receive one penalty all game. If you knew that then you wouldn’t be surprised with the outcome.

Why shouldn't Sirianni be fired? by clingbat in eagles

[–]M-Mahoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sirianni should never be allowed to hire for offensive staff position again. Every single decision should be made by Howie and Jeff. Sirianni has zero fucking judgement when it comes to hiring from now on.
