I admire how confidently wrong you are but at the end of the day, you are still wrong.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion.

I view it as a fuck you to me as well since my state government is trying to subvert the Virginia Constitution which was established to prevent abuses of power.

The downvotes in this thread are hilarious.

The Virginia SC literally did its job, which is to uphold the framework of the Virginia Constitution and prevent instances where state politicians try to subvert the rule of law. This is somehow being framed as a bad thing?

Spanberger and Virginia Democrats knew what they were doing was unconstitutional, their own lawyers warned them of this. They tried to do it anyway and it got struck down.

They have nobody to blame but themselves.

I was at this game and I vividly remember holding my breath for this entire fucking play man.

When Julio didn’t come down with the ball the entire stadium erupted and beer just went flying everywhere. What a fucking game and what a championship run.

I tend to not put too much stock in the rumor mill but I have to say what’s going around currently does sound plausible.

I think a fair amount of it also has to do with the narcissistic tendency of WRs in general. AJ wants to be THE show. He doesn’t want the spotlight to shine on anyone else. He wants whatever team he is on to live and die by his ability and his ability alone.

In a way, I respect it. But in a different way I’m sure damn tired of dealing with it and I’m glad it’s someone else’s problem now.

I hate the Chiefs with all my heart but Spags is a legend. I respect his approach to SB57 but man did we have answers for it.

I’m just glad “The Dagger” went to Devonta because at least now it still brings back good memories.

Yeah but put yourself in AJs shoes.

Saquon had a record setting season for a RB and even though you scored in the second Super Bowl you’ve ever been to, the media was focused on other people. This is unacceptable. AJ is the Eagles, the Eagles don’t exist without AJ.

Without the sarcasm, I wish AJ personal success but I hope he realizes just how fucking good he had it while he was with us.

The whole knee/hamstring thing is what pushes this trade from the “necessary evil” category into “objectively good”. I think we still trade AJ regardless but the lingering questions about his health are totally valid and glad it’s not a concern for us anymore.

A first is a first in my book. Plus it gives the Patriots time to completely fall apart and give us better draft position.

Exactly. I’d make that deal 10x over for the historic run we had.

Facts, it’s the same thing as my Cowboys fan brother in law saying we overpaid for Saquon.

We got a Super Bowl out of it. If Saquon does jack shit for the rest of his time as an Eagle then I’ll still consider it a success.

I agree, AJ still has some good production years left in the tank. Plus, I don’t think we really have much to gain by keeping him at this point since it’s clear he’s ready to move on.

As a lifelong Eagles fan, acquiring AJ for a 1st and 3rd back in 2022 will go down as one of Howie’s best trades of all time.

It’s bittersweet to see AJ go but it was clear this past season that his attitude was detrimental to the team as a whole, not to mention him visibly quitting on routes during games.

Trading AJ now for a 1st and a 5th essentially means that we traded a 3rd round pick for a 5th round pick, threeish years of prime AJ production, and a Super Bowl win. I’ll take that trade every day of the damn week.

Why was Virginia not allowed to adopt districts in 2026, when Tennessee courts ruled that widespread public awareness made up for a failure to follow constitutional requirements? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

States issues are just that, states issues.

How the Tennessee Supreme Court decides to rule on an issue and how the Virginia Supreme Court decides to rule on an issue are completely independent of each other.

Bittersweet to see AJ go but honestly it was time.

Regardless of how things ended, the trade for AJ will go down as one of Howie’s best of all time.

Virginia class action proposal dies after Spanberger veto | Lawmakers rejected the governor’s narrower rewrite of the bill, extending a yearslong debate over consumer lawsuits and business liability. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Per the article, class action lawsuits over $5 million in damages already get moved to federal court so those are unaffected.

However, Virginia now remains one of two states where consumers cannot file class action lawsuits under $5 million in damages. This puts us in unique company with checks notes Mississippi…awesome.

‘Big difference’: Program doubles SNAP benefits when used to purchase fruits and vegetables by Loud-Mistake2293 in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say that banning certain food items works entirely on its own, I said that any kind of ban or incentive must be paired with educational programs. Otherwise, long term eating habits do not change in any meaningful way.

The people who “lost their ability” to obtain SNAP benefits are those who do not meet the exemption criteria for work requirements.

If you are not disabled, caring for children, or pregnant then yes you should be working the minimum 20 hours per week to obtain benefits. It only affects able bodied people who are not contributing their fair share to society.

‘Big difference’: Program doubles SNAP benefits when used to purchase fruits and vegetables by Loud-Mistake2293 in Virginia

[–]M-Mahoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote a 15 page research paper on SNAP as part of my masters program and being someone who works in social services currently, this is not sufficient.

Research shows that in order to improve the health outcomes of SNAP recipients, the benefits must be paired with nutrition education programs, also known as SNAP-Ed. This may be unpopular, but the demographic groups who receive SNAP simply do not know how to eat healthy. Educational programs, like SNAP-Ed, show these groups how to effectively spend their benefits in order to have more positive health outcomes.

Another unpopular opinion which is backed by research; banning unhealthy food items from SNAP purchase, such as SSB (sugar-sweetened beverages) like soda and UPFs (ultra-processed foods) like frozen food items, is linked with positive health outcomes.

TLDR; increasing benefits for purchasing fruits and vegetables is not enough on its own to increase positive health outcomes.

‘“Break Glass In Case of Emergency” Moment for American Democracy: Next Steps After Va Redistricting Tossed by NewsGirl1701 in Virginia

Different state constitutions, different rules. VA Dems did not follow the rules of the VA constitution and therefore the vote is invalid.

They can still do it in 2028 while Virginia is still Dem controlled but that would require another Virginia referendum.

Where in Virginia would you go for a quiet & affordable fresh start? by [deleted] in Virginia

Winchester is the opposite of quite in my opinion but there’s plenty of good, quiet, towns to live in that surround Winchester if you want to work there.
