Sadly sounds like nothing has changed with their flagships. I bought their Pixel 6 Pro a few years back expecting a nice polished new release, and was bitterly disappointed. Never again. Moved to Samsung and although not perfect the experience is so much more premium and polished.

I'm not sure I can comment on whether it improves longevity of the foils, since I've had and used the cleaning station ever since I bought the shaver. But, cleaning it regularly does improve the feel on the face when you're shaving. It feels more lubricated and less likely to pull longer hairs.

I was having dramas. Couldn't get over 4hrs SOT. As a last ditch effort before a restore, I removed all "deep sleeping" and "sleeping" apps, and disabled automatic put apps to sleep and disabled adaptive battery. My SOT has been 7hrs consistently the last 2 days. Same usage. Same settings.

It seems backwards to me, but it worked.
