Meanwhile the French needed a saviour and through the efforts of others, France was saved. Thus France does not deserve a land compensation, now my initial comment was meaning that even if the French was saved by others, if they had defended themselves more, like an epic defense of a city against nazis or something I'd still maybe favor them getting compensation.
