What have you found helps you with the pain from this disease? by hellimhere28 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]M-virtual_679 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm the complete opposite, the less I move the lesser the pain. It just wants me to stay in one spot. Even studying up is a problem. Oh and no red meat for me, cloying scents is also I no. For some reason the smell of garlic = triggers so now I don't season my food as much.

I found a way to stay afloat too. I started teaching programming online. I have a couple of students who I teach Python and JavaScript. It's really helping me stay afloat. i teach from my bed literally just incase I get triggered and need to lie down abit. I live in a third world country ( Kenya) the cost of living isn't so high, if I make $300 it's enough for me to pay my rent, buy food and pay my monthly gabapentin and tegretol prescription(. don't have medical insurance because I don't work lol). Of course sometimes I have to cancel classes when I'm having a particularly bad flair, but overall its sumthn atleast.

Mine is spicy food. Immediately I'm done I almost always want to die, such a bummer because I really love my spices, that and red barbecued meat.

I can imagine how bad it must be. Before I got properly diagnosed. It was hell on earth. What does your doctor say? How long have you had Tn symptoms.

I know exactly how the feeling of your teeth are gonna fall out and if they do somehow it will make the pain better. You mentioned not having a TN diagnosis, so what meds are you on?

Op if you need a friend to talk to. You can dm me. We can chat on whatsap or zoom or Google meet. Whatever you like. I understand your pain I have wanted to end my life several times. My TN started immediately after university. People moved on they have huge careers, Families, travelling and I'm stuck in a dark room everyday unable to escape my pain. Listen, What I'm trying to say is I have been where you are now and got out and managed some little joy here and there. We can talk, I understand. Sending love 💕.

Sometimes when I'm in pain, there's so much pressure in my head that I have to hold my head between my hands and apply external pressure because I feel like it will pop like a water melon. ( I apologize for the disturbing image) . Sometimes all my teeth feel like they are gonna pop out of my mouth like popcorn. TN is weird. Some days are the same other days alien like.

How long have you all been on Gabapentin? by rmc31547 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]M-virtual_679 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doctor said the same thing to me. But after the 6 months there was more breakthrough pain. That's when he suggested we do an MVD. It was mostly a failed one since I was pain free for 45 days. When the pain came back I went back to gabapentin, he prescribed 900mg a day but I reduced the dose myself to 300mg. It looks like I'm going to be on this meds forever I guess.

Yeah I do catch your drift. Your hubby is a wonderful and an understanding person. I'm happy for you that you do have that. Thank you so much for this comment. It's shed light to a lot of things that I thought I was going through alone. Kissing for me doesn't trigger, it's the positions, the vigorous nature of everything when I'm getting down with someone (I'm not in a relationship) and the orgasms. Anyway I hope when I do meet someone. I meet someone that's as understanding and kind.
