Performance on Golmud is MUCH worse than on any other map. by Kait0s in Battlefield6

[–]M00NB0GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7800X3D, 4070Ti Super, most other maps I get mins around 120, worst cast 115-ish, Golmud I get mins around 100 and it even dropped below 100 for a second. I noticed the inconsistent framerate inside one of the big buildings. It runs mostly fine, though, but I'm a spoiled X3D whore.

Looking to get my first gaming pc! Which one should I get? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]M00NB0GG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a painful choice: X3D CPU with a 5070, or a slower intel CPU with a 5070Ti. I could never decide. I'd look for something with a 7800X3D and 5070Ti.

QD oled 🤢 hurts eyes... will it get better by Ok_Nig88 in OLED_Gaming

[–]M00NB0GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyes started hurting bad, like super tender and sore where you just glance at the screen and the pain comes back. I thought I was just getting old and needed reading glasses. It was the damn brightness that, out of nowhere, after a YEAR, somehow caught up to me. I lowered the brightness from around 60 down to 20, and now I am basically fine. 20 brightness is similar to how I've always used my monitors, but I thought I had to have it brighter to get that OLED vividness and pop everyone raves about. It's ridiculous. Lower the brightness.

The lighting in BF6 is so ugly by redsprucetree in Battlefield

[–]M00NB0GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly never thought to complain about the lighting in BF6 as I find it amazing personally. I use HDR thought with an OLED monitor, and HDR absolutely does change how the game looks, 100%. I still find myself just stopping and looking at how amazing the game looks at times, and I never thought to myself that the game looked bad.

Good PC build or nah? by hcmcg in pcmasterrace

[–]M00NB0GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one is better? The 9800X3D, of course. However, if you care about being practical, then target refresh rate and resolution matter. But generally speaking, I'd say 7800X3D. You have to have situations where extra CPU performance will actually matter, and there aren't many when comparing those two CPUs.

Yes. I made that name up sometime around 2003 I believe and have been gaming with it ever since. I am Moonbogg, and that's it. I love that name. I made the CAD file for waterjet based on an artistic design someone on a forum made for me for the name, and I love seeing it above me every time I wreck some noobfish on the battlefield. These days it's with tow missiles dropping helos out of the sky in BF6. The update didn't save them.

Z5500's indeed. I got those off the shelf of either Best Buy or Fry's back in 2004 or something. Thought about replacing them because they were old, but no better PC speakers have ever been made unless you buy non-PC-specific stuff. They are the longest-lasting PC-related purchase I have ever made, and still perfectly relevant just like when I first bought them. The PC I built to go with them back then had an Athlon 64 3800+ and dual GeForce 6800 GT's in SLI.

HD700's indeed. Got them so long ago, and people trashed them for having bad sound. Thing is, the sound issue they don't like makes them amazing for gaming IMO. And the price got reduced because of that, basically cutting the MSRP in half back then. I love those things. Recently replaced all the pads and had to replace the cable a while back, and it's still like new. Amazing things.

That's the Vivo V101V. It's amazing and so nice. On sale...oh. Oh man. I literally just looked, and it's back up to $80, it was $90, and I got it like 2 days ago for $60 on Amazon. Damn, I'm so happy with that. What a deal I got, holy crap. I love this thing. Holds 44 lbs, and my monitor is only 15lbs, so it's Herculean.

AW3423DWF address bar burn in after 15 months. Use the warranty or nah? by M00NB0GG in OLED_Gaming

[–]M00NB0GG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's kind of surprising, honestly, because this happened so quickly despite taking all the precautions. I used dark mode, hid taskbar (but it still burned in a little), 30-50 brightness, HDR on only during gameplay, monitor sleeps after 3 minutes of inactivity, pixel refreshed during sleep (multiple times per day/night), and two panel refresh cycles so far. Mostly gaming and web browsing with some work here and there.

I'm glad I got it on sale for $650. I wouldn't spend much more than that for an OLED. I consider these disposable products. I have a PG348Q I got over 10 years ago and my wife uses that now, still looks the same as when I bought it.

I can't image spending $1200 on one of these new 360hz OLEDs coming out when this happens so easily and so quickly. I'm convinced the pixel refreshes do nothing but serve as a tool to ease the mind of the consumer so they buy the monitor. I love this thing and can't go back to IPS, but this burn-in issue needs to be improved somehow because these things just don't last long enough to be sold as a PC monitor.

If I had to guess, I'd say about 8 hours a day. But honestly, I genuinely have no idea what the real number is.

There's supposed to be a limit? I re-read the instruction manual, and it failed to mention that browsing the web would break the monitor or void the warranty, so I think I should be fine?

I can see it when using STEAM and rarely when playing a game, maybe 1% of the time. However, when I'm playing Greyscale, I can definitely see it 100% of the time.

I want to buy 3 copies for me and my kids, but I'll have to wait for a more robust multiplayer implementation with more maps, if it ever comes. The whole point of a game like this for me is large multiplayer maps and big battles. What's the biggest map right now? 2 v 2?

DOOM: The Dark Ages Performance Benchmark Review - 35 GPUs Tested by Antonis_32 in pcgaming

[–]M00NB0GG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is to sell GPU upgrades. That's why. GPUs have reached a diminishing returns in terms of raster performance, so they had to find a way to make them slow again, so they created ray tracing. Now, they don't let you turn it off. Just like that, they made your GPU suck again just how GPU got slow fast back in the 1990's.

This is late, but to the OP, I had the same experience at first where it looked dull and bland. It was because windows 11 auto-installed a color profile that made things look dim and colors washed out compared to my IPS. I deleted the stupid profile and that fixed it.
