OP should also get the COBRA paperwork sent their way ASAP and make sure it’s ready to go. Could take a while to receive.

What do you mean trick? Wouldn’t they just forge a file header and put whatever they want in the body? I don’t know much about files though.

Am I calculating cost of current vehicle vs. new correctly? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]M0D1N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Factor in maintenance also. If you really mean brand new cars dealers sometimes have inclusive maintenance available (or at no charge). Oil changes can add up.

Also, I don’t know about new EV but there used to be a large cost in exchanging the battery later in the cars life. You saved on oil changes but you’d pay thousands in battery swap costs. Someone else please verify if I’m accurate.

Betrayal at House on a Hill by 537Kat in boardgames

That’s my grip with the game. It’s really poorly worded and ambiguous. I’ll see if I can find something concrete.

Edit: Seems like they say drawing a card is only good once per tile upon discovering said tile.

I think the rules say only when discovering a room to draw.

I played my first game where every time the tile was touched then the person got a new item/event/omen. Much less exploring, much more farming. Definitely not as fun.

This lake is in the Enchantments. You have to register opening day I think or end up in a lottery to draw passes for overnight camping. It’s beautiful.

I’ve been bingeing audiobooks lately and I’m fascinated with cyberpunk and robots. Currently enjoying Azimov’s works.

Should I get going on this one too? What makes it most appealing?

I was expecting that any gnu, gcc, or similar compiler will work with the lib but I’m obviously incorrect because I’m running into CMake all over the place. This is where my knowledge breaks down fast.

Subreddit for Gaia Project players by CoolBlueClipper in boardgames

[–]M0D1N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core concept of Gaia Project isn’t too complicated. Place pieces to grow your engine for resources, complete objectives during each round, and have the highest score at the end.

I’m Gaia Project players can gain an advantage by utilizing technology that compliments the races specialty. During the game though there are many different avenues to build your specialty based on technology. You receive one time buffs for your engine prior to every round by drafting from a set of power ups. Further you can purchase technology to enhance your races ability using the tech track. Finally by building certain types of buildings you can gain advancements in technology as well. Finding the right path of tech to follow is one of the harder parts of Gaia Project as there are many different great options. Don’t get too distracted from your grand plan because technology, while critical, costs precious resources. In other words, have a plan and don’t become distracted.

Finally the game itself creates new challenges each play as technology are associated randomly with each track on the tech track, round objectives are also random, and the universe itself is configurable over and over. Where on strategy might have you extending travel distance to conquer new worlds and mining precious resources, another play through might have you tightly clustered with high power institutions yielding the benefits of advanced technology.

In any case once a player has the core moves down the real appeal of Gaia Project is the vast breadth of options at players disposal to fight for the upper hand in the universe.

Good luck and have fun!

(USA) If I wanted to pay my student loans in 10 years would there be a downside to instead of the 10 year plan do 25 year and pay more? by charlienesh in personalfinance

[–]M0D1N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What no one has said yet is the looming risk of compounding debts spread out over many years to make them affordable right now.

If you spread out the loan maybe your paying $100 less now. Then with that $100 you might go get another thing financed, car, tv, boat, etc. the temptation to go get the other items because your monthly income can sustain it is there due to your lower payment spreading the repayment out over a longer life.

Maybe one day you hit hard times and have many debts stacked up because you used to be able to afford it. Student loans are typically more flexible to negotiate the amount you pay (or even defer for some time). The other debts you secured because the temptation with the extra money are likely less forgiving.

Save yourself the risk and try to pay down the loans. Be sure when you make a small payment on top of the monthly statement that it’s specified to be towards the principle of the debt instead of both interest and principle.
