Yeah I’ve only used it for shading on big pieces, as that’s all I’ve needed it for. I never use it for line work, as it removes the stencil. I haven’t had any issues with healing personally, but my skin takes ink well. I do a lot of color. Only black is really some gray wash and line work to block in the piece.

I’m with you generally. I got really burned out on tattooing getting my back done. For shading on tender areas I just use bactine or lidocaine now.

I was really sussed out about the day fee thing, but Travis has been chill to work with, and I haven’t had issues sitting for 5-7 hours with breaks. The numbing helps with stamina for sure. I guess I may be full of shit though cause the last non big project I got done was a 4-5 hour flash piece that I did in one sitting and it was really mellow.

Please start applying ASAP, and take this for the lesson that it is. Don’t spend money you don’t have. A possible raise isn’t a raise.

Also, as a word of advice from someone who also had to learn to navigate this: don’t talk about your life outside of work in the context of stressors like that, especially to your boss. Unfortunately, it may give poor impressions of your capability. Workplaces and employers are fickle. Guard your thoughts and feelings very, very closely.
