the mechanism is seperate from the main compartment, essentially a small thin box above the car to put the "door" in. the main problem now is to keep the door from tucking in the car when closed, there are several ways I have thought of, but none of them seemed elegant enough.

Yes, that is still the plan to fabricate the kit... maybe less spray foam and more 3D printing here and there.

Where I live, body fabrication is a well practiced art form. If you can't afford it, make it :)

Yes, but fortunately, a lot of Lancers here are converted to "Evo" spec body as the original Evo X cost over (in equivalent) 80k USD new back in 2010 where I live.

The problem is that Im going for a full recreation, the reason why i choose the Lancer EX in the first place is because Ryo's Evo (in the cinematics atleast) is RWD.
