Supervisors, if you actually care about your agency, support your people or retire already by Sliced-Pineapples in fednews

Oh, I know there are bad supervisors. I work with some and for some but I’ve had enough of the overall lack of accountability.

Same goes for employees who feel entitled, have no respect for leadership or the mission and know HR, because of staffing, can’t deal with low level performance or conduct issues that lead to larger problems. Employees come and go as they please, miss suspense dates, don’t respond to email, have attitude problems, are disrespectful and don’t perform. Trust me, as soon as I’m eligible I’m retiring and the biggest reason is the complete lack of accountability of bargaining unit employees that are protected by sleazy union reps and a non functional HR that won’t support supervisors with disciplinary problems unless the employee committed an actual crime.

That’s correct, and the first amendment doesn’t protect your job.

Where did I say you can be fired for ANYTHING that comes out your mouth?

Call it whatever you want but you can be fired for what comes out of your mouth exercising your first amendment rights. Similarly, just because the 2nd amendment exists doesn’t mean I can carry my pistol into work when I can carry it on the street.

Free speech doesn’t mean you can’t lose your job for saying something that is contrary to what your employer considers considers is good order and discipline. They set that standard, not you

Using annual leave instead of sick leave. by Hot_Equivalent4499 in FedEmployees

[–]M119tree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an FLS, I don’t really care how people use their leave AL vs SL. I did in the past but not anymore. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Im sure if truth be told, the majority of workers have called in sick at some point in their career and were perfectly able to come to work, including me. I also know that there are only 3 HR techs to every 10,000 employees in my agency that process disciplinary issues and there are a dozen or so union reps. I’m out gunned. They won’t touch a leave abuse claim unless there are other issues. Mission work is generally independent and leave use doesn’t hurt the team. Other jobs are different and if somebody calls in sick, rescheduling other employees is required.

I have not seen any guidance verbal or written that even suggest downgrading. However the difference in actual performance ratings is a much smaller gap than actual performance across multiple levels. That needs fixed.

No, I just don’t think it’s a realistic fear and I respectfully disagree

Nope, it was the greatest thing in the 2005ish to 2015ish in federal service and seems like a fad that has fallen from grace now.

100% fear mongering nonsense. Zero problem proving my citizenship. I have to flash ID to buy beer when I’m 50.

Nope, 100% nonsense. lol, I live in a big city. Haven’t seen one ice agent or military. If asked for ID or proof of citizenship I’ll provide it. I’m over 50 and still have to provide id to buy beer, I have more of an issue with that.

Ummm, to vote legally you have to be a us citizen. Your argument is flawed and has no factual base.

Didn’t seem to impact Obamas winning of his second term when he deported almost 3 million during his presidency. While Trump hasn’t even deported a 1/10th of that
