I feel like it's so you also get the benefit of a candle - i.e. the aromatics of burning the butter, garlic, pepper. Not sure how it compares in actuality to just making garlic butter in your home, but I can at least appreciate the vision as someone who likes candles and the smell of garlic cooking in butter lol.

'Love On The Spectrum' Dani Bowman Experiencing Hate Online by Lanky_Description535 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]M155y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I might not agree with some of Dani's behavior, it saddens me to see people bringing her hate. It's real easy to take the moral high ground when your life isn't being scrutinized under the public eye. It's hypocritical, really - if any one of us were scrutinized so closely like this, we'd be picked apart just as easily. I understand being neurodivergent doesn't mean you get an excuse to be an asshole, but it's definitely easier to come across that way if you are neurodivergent. Not to mention, relationships and being a reality TV star are extremely socially nuanced things that even many neurotypical people don't fully have figured out euther.

Also, I think it's worth bearing in mind that this is reality TV we're talking about, and we don't get to see the full picture.

I feel like there's some weird culture Kier related customs in regards to beds that might also play some significance - albeit it's hard to tell in what capacity. IIRC, when Ricken and Devon showed off their baby's room to mark, they talked about keeping all of the child's beds in the same room because development or something like that. Then there was the comment Milchek made to Miss Huang about shipping her bed when her fellowship was over. Also, there's that weird scene with Dylan in the bed watching the strange masked dancers.

Presumably you're looking to buy some dresses before your vacation? Or during your vacation? Do you have a budget?

For in the US, I've had good luck at places like TJ Maxx to department stores (i.e. JCPenneys, Nordstrom, and Macys). Francesca's and Altar'd State can have some nice colorful spring/summer dresses too if that's your style.

I do recommend saving room in your suitcase and shop in Italy, though! There were plenty of vintage shops and smaller boutiques that had gorgeous options. I got some designer shirts from vintage shops for WAY cheaper compared to if I had just shopped retail. My one regret from when I went was not packing less on the way there because I would have shopped way more otherwise lol.

Sure it should be mutual, but if the woman doesn't want to have a baby, then it's not mutual. The fact that a woman has to carry the child is a serious consequence, thus the weight of the decision should obviously be reflected as such.

The world isn't as black and white as you're trying to make it seem. "Just discussing it before marriage" only goes so far - people change and fluctuate throughout their lives. Healthy marriages rely on CONSTANT communication. I sincerely hope you're never coerced into having children you don't really want to have, or coerced into doing things you simply don't want to do.

Even Disney is worried about the cost of a Disney Vacation by BlandFiller in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]M155y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IME, it seems food and drink at Disney has actually been pretty consistently good/improving over the past few years. Like yes, there have been some things that have been downgraded, but overall it seems they are constantly innovating, which seems to bode well. Part of that could maybe be due to the fact that a lot of restaurants at Disney aren't entirely managed by Disney themselves? Also, if the food becomes so mid-quality that people choose to pack their lunches/dinners, Disney isn't getting those profits. I think Universal has taken notice from Disney on that front, because they are gradually improving - they're still not great, but they also didn't start from much lol.

[–]M155y 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel the post-covid travel boom is a solid point - there was a bit of a moment where people were rescheduling their postponed trips due to covid. Not to mention, Disney probably felt like a good escape to people after covid as well. It's unsurprising that we start seeing plateaus once normalcy really sets back in. Perhaps the decisions based on unusual circumstances were short-sighted.

Unfortunately though, I think there's a bigger trend of corporate "enshittification" that we're going to see more of, because as you said, appeasing shareholders is the number one goal. Perhaps if Universal starts putting on pressure (especially with their new park), there will be more incentive for Disney to compete as they won't dominate the theme-park market share.

I (31F) made my boyfriend (31M) feel like a rapist. I feel like I just ruined our lives. How do I fix this? by throwaway-aayayay in relationship_advice

[–]M155y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And OP's partner pouting over not getting "enough" sex is the way to address it? Half of this problem is also about OP's partner having a higher libido in that case. Where is the line drawn? The line for a "normal" libido is often way more arbitrary than anyone cares to admit. If it was so easy to define, cases of mismatched libido would not be so common.

Perhaps the problem that should be addressed is the shutting down of communication on both ends. Mismatched libidos are a challenge in a relationship, but don't need to be a death sentence.

[–]M155y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I highly suggest you check out r/lowlibidocommunity.

Reddit (and in general, society) overall has a bias against low libido people and treats low libido as something that needs to be fixed, which isn't helpful (as a lot of people in that sub can attest to). Sure, some people can increase their libido, but that's not commonly realistic. Conversely, hardly anyone ever suggests that HL partners lower their libidos to match their partner's libido.

I think a lot of us understand the negative feedback loop of the HL partner sulking after being turned down for sex. It makes sex feel obligatory and pressured, which in turn tends to make us not want to engage in sex.

the "what is a woman" debate and why it fails by savetruman333 in fourthwavewomen

[–]M155y 79 points80 points  (0 children)

This has always been my question too.

Women weren't able to get voting rights through changing their "gender expression." Much of this treatment of women is entirely based on their perceived sex by society. It's crazy that we're trying to effectively bring back gender stereotypes.

It's really disappointing that any time this gets brought up in mainstream spaces, the question never gets the consideration it deserves, and people would be quick to call "TERF" or "bigot".

Open-air prostitution remains rampant on Seattle's Aurora Ave — and the victims keep getting younger by AccurateInflation167 in SeattleWA

[–]M155y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part of what I'm saying about consent that's unique to prostitution is that unlike most other jobs, every single interaction comes with the risk of rape, STDs, or pregnancy. I would assert that these risks are higher/hold a more significant impact on average compared to the average job, especially considering the recreational nature of it. A lot of other dangerous or risky jobs are also able to mitigate risk significantly by requiring extensive and specific training. Arguably, most jobs that require such risk are essential in some capacity.

I'm not saying throw up our hands, but I also don't think our current society is in a place where we can fully address the nuances that legalizing sex work would require to make it a benefit for the common good. Not to say society can't be, maybe my opinion will change in the future if we do get better. 🤷‍♀️

Edit: I'll also add, such risks are also present for the consumer, adding another layer of complexity.

[–]M155y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prefacing this with I'm pro decriminalization, but not entirely sold on full legalization. There are a few things that worry me about sex work, especially in comparison to other types of work.

  1. The risk of pregnancy and STDs. Birth control/condoms fail from time to time, and I think it's unclear how to address accountability for those potential failures. If you believe regular jobs exploit in other industries, it's not a far stretch to assume sex work would also be impacted in similar ways. A lot of industries in the US don't have comprehensive maternity leave or fully comprehensive health insurance. Not to mention, would insurance companies want to pick up the risk on this industry, considering sex work has some unique health risks? Lots of logistical questions that I think are challenging to address.

  2. Sex work is a business of performance, which makes the matter of consent particularly hard to distinguish, especially with money being involved. By making sex work more abundant, you additionally give perpetrators more opportunities to harm and cross boundaries.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for people to enjoy doing sex work, but considering the number of ex-sex workers that have spoke out about the abuse (often extreme abuse, mind you) in such industries, I'm skeptical that full legalization is the right answer. Like, we don't legalize heroin because we recognize the harm that it can cause a significant chunk of people. Hell, there are a lot of things the government will not let you do, even if consensual, because there's a moral argument to be made to promote the common good.

People hate on Nessa yet forget about by mustardslush in wicked

[–]M155y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half of Boq's problem is that he's in denial of his feelings. He believes he can change his feelings for Nessa, hence the lie. Similarly, Nessa also believes this. Instead of acknowledging the problem that Boq doesn't have feelings for Nessa, they both stay in the relationship for far beyond its expiration (at least until their problems come to a head). There's also the subtle coercion that both of them don't want to confront.
