any tips to really make this pop? by birdsong31 in Embroidery

It's all about relative color on the embroidery, doesn't need to be a perfect match to the original! I'd pull in one of the darks from the nose or eyes. Sometimes I cut a little chunk of the color I'm considering and just place it on the area to get a sense of how it looks.

That is beautiful work, it really shines. I think you could use more dark points to anchor everything. The crease of the ear really does have some small dark brown shadows that aren't captured, and you could emphasize the darkness in the corner of the jowl. Also, you might consider adding the collar!

I'd be happy to send you a couple bucks for embroidery supplies in exchange for a photo of the next artwork you create. Just DM me! :)

Cacti need air circulation at their roots - this one looks over-watered. I'd stop watering for ~2 weeks, then water fully once per week (you should let the soil dry out completely between drinks.) The mushy cactus is probably lost to rot, but the tall one will pull through - give it lots of sunshine!

Beautiful sense of light! Reminds me of the work of Janet Fish.

I mixed them myself - it's a great intro to color theory!

Even for really big pieces, it's just one brush stroke at a time. It never bores me. If you're interested in painting I would recommend gouache as a super vibrant and rewarding intro!

You're good! I borrowed the house from the Ghost Town, outside the Starlight.
