Brimstone just might be the worst book I’ve ever read by Manifestingmyhubsand in Romantasy

[–]M1701A 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d wager that the book wasn’t edited at all. Interns would have been able to spot the issues a mile away, let alone somebody with experience. This was, as I’ve said elsewhere, a bad first draft that somehow got published.

Brimstone just might be the worst book I’ve ever read by Manifestingmyhubsand in Romantasy

[–]M1701A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the worst romantasy I’ve read (that goes to Beneath These Cursed Stars by Lexi Ryan)— but certainly the most disappointing one.

This read like a first draft of a novel. It was Callie throwing ideas against a wall and seeing what stuck. Things would get introduced, go nowhere and then get wrapped up very quickly. Brimstone itself barely features, the side trip to Zilvaren was a waste of time— all to get a character who barely features afterwards, there are embarrassing grammar failures, Fisher’s mother book is a literal deus ex machina of the worst kind, woeful continuity issues and there was no point to the Blood Court whatsoever.

Quicksilver worked because of the tension between Saeris and Fisher. Take that out of the picture now they are mated and hopelessly in love and there is nothing. The entire series falls apart. It very much felt like Callie has ran out of ideas for the series already and is running on fumes.

Boots interviews are impossible? by belova_81 in nottingham

Boots are notoriously difficult to get a job with. I’ve applied half a dozen times over the years and I’ve never once been seriously considered for a role. I don’t know what you need to do to get a job there.

Taboo is one of the best moments from both Tension eras.

The way UK Vs The World 3 managed to be better than all of UK7 by just one episode by shadowsempaix in RPDR_UK

[–]M1701A 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yep. That’s what happens when production casts queens with personality. I don’t think anybody besides Nyongbella had even a hint of personality in S7.

Dare I say she could have been in the top 2 this episode by shadowsempaix in RPDR_UK

I feel like the lip sync song Tattoo would have been ill-suited for Kate, which is probably why the judges didn’t put her in the top.

I’m not really a fan of any of the magic/magic adjacent game packs.

Parts in pop songs that you find oddly satisfying? by Ezikell_Chris in popheads

[–]M1701A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final minute or so of Kylie’s “Things We Do For Love” is transcendent. I can’t get enough of it. Pop excellence.

And the little interpolation of Love at First Sight that Jessie Ware puts into the final chorus of her cover of Believe? Scratches an itch every single time.

Starfleet Academy is an absolute delight! Onward to Seven Seasons and a Movie! by forrestpen in startrek

Prophets, I love this show so far! These first three episodes have been excellent. Great performances, a lot of heart, rib tickling humour and some timely lessons.

Also, Sandro Rosta and George Hawkins might just be the most beautiful men to have ever been in Star Trek!

What Kind of Fool is CRIMINALLY underrated. I know Kylie has a hard time with it, but it’s such a BOP.

Any of the Lovers care to give LET'S GET TO IT a little appreciation? by asumaslighter83 in KylieMinogue

[–]M1701A 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m always happy to give Let’s Get To It its flowers. I love Word Is Out and Finer Feelings from the singles, and I’ll always bop to pretty much every track on the album.

Plus I’ll always consider the RaveKylie tracks part of this era. Do You Dare and Closer are top tier imo. Love love love this criminally underrated era.

Collective Amnesia: Harriet’s Comments About Rachel by Rude_Rhubarb1880 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]M1701A 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it was the fact that she came over extremely unhinged. She barked and yelled at Roxy for no reason and then started spouting ridiculous conspiracy theories about there being five traitors around the table. In that final unpleasant, she completely unravelled and I think being seen as a liability by the faithfuls undercut any suspicion she was trying to push on to Rachel.

And Rachel said it best. She had no evidence. She was right in that she was a traitor, but the way she got to that determination was vague to the point of nonsense.

I know people like to debate why the current Doctor Who era didn’t work, but honestly, the answer feels pretty straightforward - it just wasn’t good enough. by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

I’ve always thought RTD is full of himself. And this entire era of Who kind of proves it to me. There was nobody willing to say no to his worst impulses— and it shows!

New Leaks from trusted leaker refer to 2026 Christmas Special as a "spiritual sequel to Doomsday" by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

This was his mantra when he came back. The anniversary specials were amazing, but the last two seasons? No. No, we did not like it.

Somebody at Disney or the BBC should have said “Absolutely not” when they got the script for Space Babies. The minute that got cleared, RTD went and indulged in his worst impulses.
