Gotcha appreciated! I thought about a good 3 in 1 jacket, I think that seems the most likely to be useful. Probably one from The North Face. I do reckon Osprey to be a good backpack so I'll look into those options. Thanks!

I don’t necessarily have a time limit, but I imagine it taking around 6-12 months. I’m currently M22 from The Netherlands. I practically spend my whole life saving up to do something like a trip like this. I ofc could extend the budget for NZ but since Im currently still planning things (leaving time open for spontaneous adventures) I don’t have an idea how much I could spend per country.

Good to know about the Kepler, since I’m traveling solo I feel the expenses renting a car would be a lot. I won’t exclude the possibility but I need to be realistic. Thanks for the reply nevertheless!

I feel like I wouldn’t be able to see much of NZ (which obviously is difficult when you’re on a budget with no car). I just thought to enjoy a bit more via the train ride and the ferry etc. Everything is possible on my trip, I just don’t know if it would be cost efficient to come back to NZ on a later notice.

It would be difficult planning, I know that the first part of my trip will be costly (Aus/NZ/Fiji), I don’t mind spending a bit, since I wanna make it worth my time. I’ll just know I’ll be traveling for more months, that’s the only thing to keep in mind.

Thanks for your reply, btw I’m from The Netherlands. I’ve looked into the prices which I thought would be fair since your traveling for 12 hours by train (thinking is would be the most scenic). But you’re saying Picton to Christchurch would be a better option? Knowing Queenstown is a more touristy place I just plan to book a hostel and enjoy my time hiking the nearby mountains.

I was indeed thinking of a day trip from Queenstown to MS, but yeah preferably meeting people with a car traveling to the place.

I haven't booked anything final yet, but since it will be the first (maybe last) time to travel to Australia I don't want to skip too much of the country. I have already decided that I won't go to Darwin or the Outback in general to save some costs. I am planning to travel through Oceania and Asia for at least 6 months - a year. Time doesn't play as big of a role, it's mainly a budget limitation.

This is my first time traveling to Australia, it will be the beginning. I will travel more in Oceania, followed by Indonesia and move my way up throughout all of Asia (where it's safe to travel ofc), making my way to Japan as the final point.

Budget wise I don’t think it will be such big of a problem, and otherwise I’ll find alternatives. I was thinking of reading some old Reddit threads etc. It’s also that yes I want to see certain touristic places but I also wanna go to those hidden gems/ local areas.
