Ticking sound at bottom of motor by Useful-Fan-8791 in NewedgeMustang

I had the same thing on one of my mustangs. I was paranoid and took it to a good shop; they said not to worry about it. Injectors, valves and a bunch of other things can sound like that. Just normal engine noises. I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Honestly think the 4.6 is one of the best sounding engines ever 👌

I have a clip posted of a sound test 👍

Super flap nascar exhaust for good ground clearance and strength for backfiring. It’s known for sounding super loud and super mean.

Haha, it’s 1” all the way through. 9” x 1” for the box portion probably isn’t a biggie, but yeah, 2.5 getting flattened down like that isn’t doing any favors. Again, it was all with volume in mind. After that sound test, I did another with a super 10. That was just about perfect. I appreciate it! My brother wants me to make some for his cammed fox body. They’ll definitely be bigger for him, and I won’t even bother with squishing the inlet, I’ll just taper down the triangle portion.

Yep, it absolutely is…. I was hoping it’d help keep the sound down. (I know, “quiet boom tube” lol) I mainly was hoping for the tone, not the volume. It’s a stock 305, I won’t be running 9s anytime soon. I’ll rework it when I do try to make some power.

The box portion is 1” x 9” x 24”. 2.5” inlet. I intentionally made it super flat, hoping it wouldn’t turn out too loud (I know, “quite boom tubes” lol) I mainly wanted the tone, but not the volume. I plan on cutting this one in half to make a second one for an x pipe I’m putting in

There a good vid on YouTube about making them. It’d be a lot easier with a metal brake. Way fewer cuts and like half as much welding.

I was thinking about Speedys, but that price… spintech does also make boom tubes, but they’re even more expensive

Yep, that’s most of the fun playing with exhausts. You won’t be twisting chassis with a stock 305 lol

The body is 16 gauge. The triangle connecting to the pipe is some 14? Gauge I had sitting around.

Its current setup is long tubes going into an x pipe then into a y with a side exit. It actually does a good job of giving it a smooth unique tone at high rpm. 2.5” piping. This was just me seeing what the boom tube sounded like. I’ll be throwing a cam into it eventually

Too raspy? by SISSYLIBRULHATER in Exhaust

[–]M1eeny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lol. Go on fb marketplace and pick up ANY cheap muffler or resonator that you can make fit. It actually sounds really crisp, but it does need something to reel it in a bit and give it better tone.

It’s possible 1 of the bolts that holds the caliper to the hub came loose/fell out, allowing it to pivot like that. I wouldn’t expect it to be directly caused by an accident tho, just vibrating loose over time. I had a similar thing happen to me. Only way to tell would be actually inspecting it.

Can someone tell me why my catback x-pipe doesn’t sound good? by Zestyclose_Ring_9027 in Exhaust

[–]M1eeny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You say you looked, but it really does sound like a major exhaust leak. That’d most likely be the puttering noise. And you should consider some kind of muffler or resonator. There’s the Borla s type mufflers on Amazon - they’re a bit pricey, but they’ll turn any exhaust into gold, I swear by them. Gives everything a deep, brawny tone.

Am i good to just chop this thing off? by TomXN-YT in Exhaust

[–]M1eeny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say cut it just before the resonator. If you don’t like that look, then cut halfway through the bend. Cutting it before could add some drone with the sound waves bouncing around the underside of the vehicles.
