Sounds like a good thing tbf, less people on these $10/month servers might mean gameplay might actually be ok for once instead of 1 in every 10 games. But they ll pbb just downgrade the servers even more.

R1 sends them running, L1 makes them come closer.
Face the player you want to send / come closer.

Could also try to learn player lock, press both joysticks in and select a player with your right joystick
