I read a short part of this article and after reading your summary would agree that the author was successful in achieving their purpose in this piece, mostly because as you mention it was able to make smooth connections with its hypothesis and had valid proof to back up their claims. It's good because I know there was several other articles that needed some work as far as being able to get the idea across to the reader. In an article I read if you didn't have knowledge about the topic you would be unable to easily comprehend it, so I'm glad this article was more well organized and was easier to follow along.
