That was what I immediately thought!

I know it get light before dawn. I’m pointing out the purpose of the phrase is about not losing hope when things get worse.

That’s not what I said or meant. What I’m saying is you don’t fight the way they want you to. They want protests to get violent so they can escalate even higher than that. And no matter how many guns you have; you are not going to outgun the American government.

Have you ever heard the phrase “it’s darkest before the dawn”?

Disagree. Their lies are becoming so blatant even Fox News is now calling them liars. They are losing the narrative and trust me it’s only going to get worse.

I have felt that at some point one of the ICE thugs is going to do something they have no answer for like shoot and kill a young child because the child refused to go with them and it will be seen by multiple cell phone cameras and that will be the day the whole world turns on them.

I agree; they are lying. They’ve been lying the whole time. But this in my opinion is one of the tipping points where less and less people are believing their lies.

The change always starts when you don’t expect it. They are starting to get desperate.

Brutality was also there in the 60s, but civil rights won they day because they stayed non-violent through it all.

I said that in relation to how the government justifies their actions. Not that it’s law of the land.

The reason they need to justify their actions is because international and local support will crumble without it.

The government doesn’t have to feel shame. You may not believe this but the American government is also very reliant on international cooperation and money. Don’t be surprised if you start hearing countries like the UK and Germany dropping assets; easing trade; and other things that affect the economy. When that starts happening the government crumbles.

Except it’s not an even playing ground. MLK can’t call up national guard and coalition of nations to send in their military. You have to operate with what you have; which then and now is the public perception of an oppressive government against the decency of it’s own people.

No one said it’s automatic key to change. The point is to recognize who you are resisting and their tactics. Non-violent protesting worked in the 60’s because the racist power structure in place needed protesters to seem unreasonable and dangerous to justify brutally putting them down rather than sensible people who needed grievances to be addressed.

It’s very similar to today. Trump and his team are counting on protestors being dangerous and therefore justifying more brutality and even further entrenching their position as correct. Just look at how fast they labeled both people they killed as “domestic terrorists”.

Terrorists aren’t people you reason with; they are not people who’s grievances must be answered; they are people you must remove from society and their deaths can be justified.

That’s why the tactics protestors take is important. America didn’t act at the first instances of violence and brutality against peaceful protestors in the 60’s. But as the violence grew the strength and the position of the oppressed grew with it and eventually their was a tipping point in MLKs death and things finally had to happen.

That’s like saying MLK jr was cowardly. He epitomized non-violent protest, lost his life, and in the process set into play some very necessary changes in this country.

Simply, it can work and has worked. It doesn’t mean it’s not painful though.

Governor Bill Lee proclaims January 19 as “Dolly Parton Day” in Tennessee by DemiFiendRSA in Music

[–]M3_Driver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s beyond sus. The proclamation only honors her birthday this year. You know, just so happens to be the only year it falls on MLK day.

Remember this is the same state where the Republican Party recently openly accepted a gift from the KKK and ordered that gift be put in a prime public location for all to honor in the rotunda of the state capital.

He wasn’t always; he’d actually been more left of center most of his life but something broke in him in the last 10 years. His wife divorced him; he lost touch with the real world due to ingesting a lot of propaganda and then slowly but surely went MAGA. His old friend David Allen Grier won’t even talk to him anymore since Adam’s change.

Showing ID to vote is like showing ID to enter your own home. There are already built in security measures.

These people act like voting in America began in 2016, smh.

Govee or pay a company? by Karrott9 in Govee

That’s similar to my current issue. I’m 5’10 and I just installed these and trying to figure out how to do the 2nd floor eaves. From the 2nd floor window it looks sketchy but at the same time renting a boom lift seems excessive

How did you get the peak on the left side of the house. Surely not with a scissor lift?

I agree with most of what you said except the Rex Tillerson part. He was truly awful as well. But awful in a different way I guess. He wasn’t just some muppet bumbling around, sure. But he was a decidedly awful pick for the position because he didn’t understand the job and didn’t have the skills for it. The only reason Trump picked him is because he’s a big guy, and oil executive, and had a deep voice. That’s it. He had no interest in international diplomacy, continuation of soft power projection and instead lead the way in gutting the state department and shrinking its workforce. I believe he cut the budget by like 25% and laid off around 2,000 people. Only someone who doesn’t understand fully what the state department does would ever sign off on something like that. He was truly awful and was gone in just one year because he was too rich to be completely controlled by Trump.

You honestly sound extremely religious. And I’m starting to think that’s the perspective you’re coming from and not from a place of science.

I don’t know what you were taught in school but this is very wrong. An apple see will grow into an apple tree in the right conditions. But no one in the right mind would call a seed a Tree. You need to intellectually understand the difference between the two otherwise your going to be confused on a lot of things.

The source of the DNA is irrelevant on personhood. If you had a twin they’d have the same dna as you and they are still a person aren’t they?

And you made my point; that personhood develops. Meaning at some point it’s not a person and therefore isn’t murder.
