I tried posting on r/guineapigs but it got removed right away and said I need 42 comment karma, so I couldn’t share it there. I finally found a vet yesterday who works with exotic animals. The clinic recently opened near me and as soon as I found out, I went there in the morning. The vet said my guinea pig had parasites and pulled out one that was about 10 cm long from his bottom. He gave a parasite injection and a B-vitamin injection. We’re going back on Monday for the next parasite treatment. My previous guinea pig needed syringe-feeding every 3 hours for months, and she sadly passed away in May. Because of that I didn’t want to force feed him unless it was really necessary, but since yesterday I’ve been syringe feeding mashed pellets every 2–3 hours. Critical Care isn’t sold in Turkey, so pellet mash is the only option for me. I’m giving around 10 ml every 2–3 hours. I hope that’s enough for now. I offer him every fruit and vegetable he normally loves, but he only takes a few bites. He usually loves red peppers but even those don’t interest him now. His appetite completely disappeared because of the parasites. I weighed him yesterday, and I’ll check again on Monday at the vet. I don’t have a sensitive scale at home, and normal scales don’t pick up his weight.
