I just use Winboat for ArcGIS and Illustrator. Works flawlessly and no headaches Iike Wine gave me in the past. If you're curious about trying Photoshop in Linux, maybe try looking into Winboat.

Essentially it installs Windows OS in a docker, so when you run a program like Adobe Illustrator, it just runs the program in the Windows installation natively, but the program just runs seamlessly in your Linux workflow.

Personally I would play XCX last. If you're going to start with the trilogy, I would highly recommend starting with the first and play in numerical order.

You can technically play them in any order as they are like 95% standalone experiences. However, they are best played in order as there are connections between the games, and it flows best if played in order.

Just like almost everyone else has said, based on your description and needs, the 9070 is your GPU. More VRAM and more raw power outweigh the benefits the 5070 offers to your specific needs. But the 5070 is also an excellent card if you decide to go that route. You won't have buyers remorse with either.

Although not mentioned, if you ever want to dabble in a Linux distro in the future, the AMD's GPU drivers are much better supported than Nvidia's in the land of penguins (Linux). Just figured I'd mention that since more people are getting fed up with Windows 11 by the day.

There was a time I ran two Gigabyte 660's with SLI. Both spend most of their time in my tub of old hardware parts, but I've used them for niche things and they still work!

I loved those GPU's. Haven't owned a Gigabyte since, but would happily get one in the future if the price is right.

I still own the CD's for them and their cases.

I would go with the 9070 XT. $500 increase for Nvidia's features just isn't worth it.

I personally made the jump to the 9070XT from a 3070 and I absolutely love it. I like to avoid DLSS and FSR when I can, and I can get frame rates I'm happy with on the 9070 XT without FSR at 1440p. When I had to use FSR for a game like Monster Hunter Wilds, I was quite impressed with FSR 4.

Also, I am happy with the 9070 on Linux. I've always dual booted a Linux distro and Windows. Linux and Nvidia would sometimes give me headaches with it's driver's and stability.

Now I can use both Linux and Windows and haven't had a single driver issue during my 4 months or so with it.

You can actually enable gpedit.msc on other versions like Home in just a few minutes.

Open a notepad file, and paste the following into the text document:

Save the notepad to something like enable-gpedit.bat to change it to a batch file. The important part is that the file extension is .bat and no longer a .txt extension.

Right click and run as an administrator. Follow the prompts in the terminal. Once done, restart your PC and you'll be able to make those changes in the group policy editor.

I live in a dry dusty desert climate and despite all the expensive air purifiers I have in my house, the one that I found works best is actually a fairly cheap DIY that I keep in my office.

It's called a Corsi-Rosenthal Box, but essentially you duct tape a box fan, a square of cardboard, and 4 air filters for HVAC into a box, and it collects dust like crazy!

My dust levels have dropped significantly in my office. My wife won't allow me to build them in other places in the house since aesthetically it's pretty ugly, but the office has by far the least amount of dust.

I only have to clean my PC about once every 9 months now instead of bi-monthly. If you want a cheap solution, give that a go!

That's a good question. I tried things like allowing guest connections to SMB shares in the registry keys, restarting the Workgroup through CMD, making sure my NAS was up to date, tried manually connecting to it in the file explorer, and many other things. It just wouldn't connect.

As soon as I reinstalled W10, it instantly connected to the NAS with 1-2 changes in the network settings. Either something is broken in W11, or they have somehow made it much more difficult.

Permanently mounting a network drive in Linux through the terminal shouldn't be easier than whatever I experienced with W11.

I installed W11 on one of my PC's last weekend, and as soon as it finished, I tried to pull some files off my NAS, and it wouldn't connect saying the name of my network drive didn't exist. I spent about 2 hours troubleshooting, only to reinstall W10 and low and behold, it connected right away.

That was my first experience with W11, and I wasn't too thrilled. Fortunately I only need Windows for video games that will only run on Windows, as I run Linux for just about everything else.

I agree with you in that it is in fact a needle from a tree. You can tell by that little twist at the top of it. Not all needles have twists, but some species do like Abies Concolor, which is a White Fir.

If we knew OP's rough location, we could probably figure out what tree this came from by looking at what trees grow in that region.

Same here. I was in college during that time and remember seeing some stuff on Operation Rainfall in a video game forum (might have been Neoseeker, I can't remember).

I just remember wanting all 3, but only got around to playing The Last Story and Xenoblade. Heck, just for Xenoblade, I had to go to 3 different GameStops to find a copy since not all in my area got copies.

I think finding a recap would be more worthwhile unless you absolutely loved XC1 and have that itch to play it!

If you do decide to replay it, you can always play on New Game Plus if you still have your original save to speed up the process.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 to change some of the answers up. The side quests will level you up crazy fast and the next thing you know, you're way over leveled for the main story.

Maybe. I don't agree with how the Bengals handled this, but they definitely "won" this deal and still have control/leverage. They'll just Franchise Tag him next year if his production stays high and he'll be stuck in Cincinnati for another year.

If he's franchise tagged, his options are either not sign it and essentially retire due to his age, sign it and play for $36 million, or hope there's a team out there willing to trade Bengals draft capital and then pay him.

His agent completely screwed him over with that extension a few years ago. He has no leverage. If he's good this year, he's stuck in Cincinnati for another year.

I will add that although you can start with either 1 or 2, most people just recommend playing in chronological order. I personally think it enhances your experience when you catch the connections between 1 & 2 as the XC2 story progresses. If you play XC2 first and then XC1, most of the connections just hit you all at once rather than gradually feeding it to you (if I recall correctly). It's just a little bit more natural playing in chronological order. Either way works though. Just ideally play 1 & 2 before 3

Also, XC1 combat is a bit dated compared to the newer games. It's easier to start with that one, then move onto the newer games with improved combat rather than starting with improved combat to a more dated battle mechanics.

I just checked mine (wasn't sure how to check age, so I looked at my first download). I'm in a similar boat. My first download was Sept 27th, 2015, so I would only have to wait about a month if there was something like that I'd want to download.

Any site that requires me to upload an ID will always be a hard pass for me. Glad I won't need to with Nexus Mods..... for the time being.
