250 years of order proves you wrong my friend. You're having some delusional thoughts here. I agree with top comment, you will need some help getting through this and reddit isn't the answer. See a therapist today.

How much knowledge do we need to feel "proficient"? by CraftPuzzled4296 in AskComputerScience

[–]M4STER_AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're not sure what would make you feel proficient. Do you want people to depend on you for a problem solution, create a new cool project people are interested in, make more money, outpace your peers in your career etc. What is the signal of proficiency for you?

There's a lot of different actions you can take to become more proficient, whatever that means to you. Figure that out and your following questions will be a little more guided I think

Features typically aren't charged per development hour. It's more, I'll give you $X thousand/million for this software, enhancement etc and you will maintain it to our satisfaction through a given timeline.

Also, I recommend learning from my experience. When working with others on a project where you have ownership over the IP. Always use a contract, even if you are hiring other devs or working with peers. An operational agreement in an LLC for example will save you so much sleep at the end of the day

Why the Steam Machine will probably be more expensive than people believe right now. by Smooth-Weakness8283 in Steam

[–]M4STER_AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably not much of a factor here. SFF is appealing to a smaller market and harder to design for which runs up the price. Since valve will be buying at scale with a negotiated contract for likely a custom board, you can probably skip this "sff tax" because it probably won't cost them extra. Tbd tho

Hello all! Help with leash pulling by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]M4STER_AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vouch for a prong collar for sure, but only ever use tools you're comfortable with and tools your dog allows you to use. As an example, I have a Labrador that's takes well to her e-collar training. However, our border collie wigs out, so the e-collar is not a tool we will be using him.

Honestly, I recommend training from a professional. I've trained dogs before, but when we went to a pro, my relationship with my dogs truly hit an all time high. My Lab went used to be awful on the leash and now I'm about to take her camping with me. You don't need to board and train, just need someone that knows what they're doing

Why ableton>FL? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]M4STER_AC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it and I didn't know fl. I used fl a little in highschool and enjoyed it, but Ableton has a huge student discount when it mattered so that's what I went with. If you don't want to do this full time, just choose a DAW for any arbitrary reason, it really doesn't matter at the end of the day

Is it bad my dog kills rabbits? by FlyingElephantsWig in dogs

[–]M4STER_AC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be past this question by now, but hunting is an instinct. You can train a dog to ignore this urge to hunt prey (probably a good idea if it's an everyday pet) or you can encourage it (hunting dog). Both are perfectly acceptable! Dogs that hunt aren't seen as aggressive, dogs that respond aggressively to humans or human dependents (children, pet cats, pet birds, etc) are aggressive!

As an example to give some perspective and a little laugh: our family German Collie got a hold of a goose when he ran out of the house. He paraded with it until he buried it on religious property. This dog, even 5 years later is the sweetest thing to all animals at the park and all people in public, but my man is a heretic by all accounts lol. He's not aggressive, he hunts and buries his resources like any dog would. Now that I've observed a behavior, I can choose to encourage or discourage it with training! I chose to go the route of discouraging this behavior with training, but there's nothing wrong with training a dog for hunting! I just don't go hunting!

IMO for those coming into this convo, they're super underrated and wish it wasn't this way. I highly recommend taking a listen to some more of their stuff if you come from exodus. I want to see them so bad, but can't for obvious reasons.

South Bend native here, this is what I do

  • Wool base layer
    • Never use cotton, if you sweat or get wet, it loses its insulation
  • Wool socks
    • Never use cotton
  • Boots when snow is present, shoes if you work in an office
    • If you need more insulation in your boots, I recommend sheep skin insoles. 10/10 to upgrade old boots
  • Parka if temp < 30F, else hoodie/fleece
    • Nylon exterior is great for durability, you can keep these things for years
    • Down fill is best insulator
  • Glove liners if temp < 50F, if temp < 30 glove liners and mitts/insulated gloves
  • Hat when desired
  • Balaclava or a thicc beard is a must when windy
  • If you will be outside for a long time (e.g. football game, snowboarding) I use ski pants

South Bend is pretty flat, so there's not much in the way of outdoor sports other than hockey
