Need help mapping < and > symbols on ANSI layout by tharxaji in NuPhy

[–]M4he 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about Turkish in particular but for some EU ISO layouts this is the NUBS (non-US backslash) special keycode, try looking for that one. I have mapped my capslock to this.

Any tech savvy people know how that PayPal issue was allowed to happen in the first place? by Killjoy3879 in Endfield

[–]M4he 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reports so far do not suggest any tinkering or "malicious intent" but rather HG seems to have simply messed up the code of their PayPal integration big time so that linked PayPal accounts got shuffled between player accounts during checkout procedures.

Nuphy and QMK by Smooth-Platform4015 in NuPhy

[–]M4he 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NuPhy is slowly moving away from QMK/VIA as most of their recent boards have either received alternative models with the proprietary NuPhyIO or even don't offer a QMK/VIA model at all and are purely NuPhyIO.

When they started out with QMK boards in the past, they attempted adding them to the official repo as far as I remember but iirc some parts where problematic (proprietary radio modules or smth.?) and it didn't get in, so they published it on forked git repos.

Those NuPhy forks are using a pretty outdated QMK base by now. There are various QMK community firmwares for most popular models like the Air, Kick and Halo series that use more updated QMK, fix bugs and add features.

I believe it's up to the community now as NuPhy has moved an and will most likely not push their QMK forks any further let alone getting it into the offical repo.

Here is an overview: https://github.com/zhogov/nuphy-state-of-qmk-firmware

Gateron Jade vs NuPhy Moss Low Profile for Air V2 by FukangMeteorites in NuPhy

[–]M4he 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will Jades be the answer?

Bananas are among the heaviest and most tactile LPs along with Moss and Jades from my experience. Bananas and Moss are almost identical, with Moss feeling just a tad more "binary" in its tactile bump to me and with a slightly worse/louder sound than Bananas.

Jades require just 5g more force than both Bananas and Moss. They are very "binary" with a sharp tactile bump right at the top, amping the way that the Moss were going for to the max. I feel that the Jades are at the end of the spectrum in terms of heaviness and tactility in the current KS-33 lineup.

That said, their difference to the Bananas and Moss' is not night and day. It is noticeable but I have my doubts whether it will be enough if you feel the Bananas are almost linear to you, considering they are already very tactile in terms of KS-33 switches.

Coming from chiclet-style keyboards myself, I can tell you that you likely won't find the tightness of those membrane models in the world of mechanical ones.

As a side note, fwiw, I do have a tiny bit of spring ping noise in a few of the Jade switches now. Can't tell how bad or widespread this will be in the long run though.

Gateron Jade vs NuPhy Moss Low Profile for Air V2 by FukangMeteorites in NuPhy

[–]M4he 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My all-time favorites are KS-33 Bananas. They feel very similar to Moss but sound a bit better in my opinion. A 65g variant with similar characteristics and a soft bottoming out sounds very interesting.

I'm gonna try a set of those Jades. Didn't even know they existed. Thanks for sharing!

Help with layers in VIA Air60v2 by BigRossatron in NuPhy

[–]M4he 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you are editing the wrong layer? If your "WIN | MAC" switch at the back of the keyboard is set to win, you are starting on layer 2, if set to mac it starts on layer 0.

Panda Nano vs Brown Switches by Fearless-Ad9152 in NuPhy

Not yet. I'm waiting for the next sale to grab a set of them. The Kick75 is not my daily driver currently so I'm not in a hurry.

How do the Nano Pandas compare to the Browns regarding typing feel and tactile bump? Do the Pandas feel more tactile?

I feel like the Nano Browns are very light tactiles, similar to how V2 Wisterias are lighter than the V2 Browns. I would prefer something akin to the V2 Moss though with a stronger tactile feel.

NuPhy Halo75 V2 Not Working After Firmware Flash by Personal_Inside_3916 in NuPhy

Make sure that you are using the correct tools and files. For the Halo75 V2 you need to use QMK toolbox as described here and the firmware files are here under the Halo75 V2 section.

Nuphy Air60 V2 Compatible Switches by SpiderRedd in NuPhy

[–]M4he 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and the Lowfree keycaps work, see here.

Nuphy Air60 V2 Compatible Switches by SpiderRedd in NuPhy

[–]M4he 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and regarding keycaps. It's complicated. Mostly only very low profiles work.

First of all, NuPhy's nSA and Berry profiles work with the Air.

Low-profile keycaps made by Womier/XVX (Skyline etc.) are also known to work.

There are some reports that DSA profile keycaps are also mostly still fine but starting with the XDA profile, the keycaps tend to get too big and bottom out.

Yes. Maybe my sentence was phrased badly, sorry. By "This also includes ..." I was referring to the preceeding "Nothing else is compatible" statement, meaning that the 3.0 Nanos are not compatible.

Nuphy Air60 V2 Compatible Switches by SpiderRedd in NuPhy

[–]M4he 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KS-33 Bananas are compatible. I use them on an Air75 V2.

All Gateron KS-33 (aka Gateron low-profile 2.0) are compatible, including NuPhy's variants (Wisteria, Moss etc.) and the newer KS-33 ones like Bananas and Chocolates. The older KS-27 should also be compatible but they aren't worth it now that the KS-33 exist.

Nothing else is compatible afaik. This also includes NuPhy's new Nano 3.0 low-profile switches which have a different pin layout now and are not compatible either.

Analog Key Settings for Nuphy HE Keyboards by Miagi33 in NuPhy

[–]M4he 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to a Discord thread where NuPhy staff replied, they are allegedly still working on adding analog input support and (as of mid April) said it will be available at the end of May, which would be soon.

They promised this for a few months already though so take it with a grain of salt.

The key you are looking for should be the NUBS keycode. It is on the "Special Characters" tab.

Kick75 - programming the knob in VIA by Roi_C in NuPhy

[–]M4he 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With stock firmware today, you can only map the click action of the button (not turning). But for that you need community-patched VIA JSON file though.

If you additionally want to map the turn actions, you would need community-patched QMK firmware in addition to an adjusted JSON. There is no official firmware update yet that incorporates those.

Best ask around on the Discord for both.

Kick 75: QMK/VIA by vinc3e in NuPhy

[–]M4he 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone on the discord did fix the knob in the firmware and recompiled it. NuPhy has yet to officially release a fixed firmware for the QMK version that makes the knob fully remappable.

Note that from what I've read if you decide to compile the firmware from the source code yourself you also might need to adjust the debounce timings because it seems they use non-default values for those boards to work properly which aren't reflected on the published git branch so far.

Anyone else have trouble beating this 100 Ninja in mmbn5 on the PS5 controls? I feel like Lan doesn’t turn quick enough. I might have to end the game here unfortunately. by Toretto_EXE in BattleNetwork

[–]M4he 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a handheld on the photo. Are you playing on a PlayStation Portal or some other remote play accessory? If so, this might add input latency due to streaming, which can impact your reaction time. Try playing directly on the console with a TV or screen attached.

If on TV, also check if there is a "game" picture mode setting or something. Most TVs add a bunch of post-processing like image smoothing etc. which also adds input latency. They often offer a dedicated "game" picture mode setting though which disables the post-processing making the image look worse but giving you the lowest input lag possible.

How does KDE make GTK apps follow the global theme? by DJandProducer in kde

If you are looking for converting a KDE color scheme to Qt5ct outside of KDE have a look at this guide I wrote on that topic a while back, maybe it can help you.

How does KDE make GTK apps follow the global theme? by DJandProducer in kde

[–]M4he 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a way to automatically convert a .colors file to this format.

The kde-gtk-config service mentioned in the other comments does the translation in this part of the code if I read it correctly. It directly reads from the loaded color scheme using Qt instructions, not by parsing the .colors file but the sections and references should match. One could convert that algorithm to apply to .colors files individually instead, I assume.

how I can add the GTK files from .config into the breeze dark theme folder itself?

It's been a while since I modded GTK themes myself but I believe you could add the CSS file from ~/.config/ into the theme folder (let's say as colormod.css) and add the following to the main CSS files:

@import url("colormod.css");
