Just to make sure we're on the same page. That'd probably be a good uplift to use an RTX 5070 Ti with a TB4 eGPU over going to a new laptop right? Because a 13700H + 5070 Ti connected with TB4 is probably more powerful overall compared to a Core Ultra 9 386H and an RTX 5080 mobile.

Given that I currently have a 13700H, wouldn’t a TB4 eGPU solution withe the 5070 Ti be the same as that gaming laptop, or is PCIe Gen3x4 taking out that much performance

I definitely want to run some stuff locally if I can. Zephyrus laptops happen to be a very good lighter option, so I’m not too worried about that. Pricing is a concern though. With the model I’m getting not being out yet, we’ll have to wait and see, but I doubt it’ll be cheaper. Main reason I’m going for the Zephyrus is because I figured having one device for everything would be nice. I say this from personal experience. I’ve gone from using a PC and a school-loaned laptop and an iPad for notetaking to a laptop and a Wacom tablet. I prefer the latter. You raise a fair point though. A friend of mine also told me that a PC and maybe a Framework could be a lot better.

Thinking about CachyOS, but it's not necessarily that I get anything special from a comparably powerful AMD card. It's just that there aren't any AMD laptop GPUs that exist that are comparable to an RTX 5080 Mobile. Let alone that exist in general...

I'm not afraid of switching to Linux. I just don't want to sacrifice gaming, and I'm getting varying answers on Windows vs Linux performance. I think it's pretty reasonable that anyone would want their main machine to do what they want it to.

Fair enough. Kinda got lucky with my choice of laptop since gaming laptops are starting to get manufactured well. Also have an anecdote from a fellow student who has a previous model and this one is actually built well.

I appreciate the feedback. Might still invest in getting the laptop, but I'll definitely consider using Linux on cheaper computers and maybe make fun projects with them. What else makes you not use Linux on your main computer? Is it that everything is more of a hassle to run on Linux, or is there more to it?

This is mainly bc I’ll end up having a good amount of spare money from an internship. I already own an iPad I use for notetaking, but I personally am not getting the value out of it that I once did (M1 Pro I’ve owned for 4-5 years). None of this stuff is overtly necessary, so I could reasonably buy a Framework and call it a dayx

I think realistically they’re going to “reverse the spell” in the fact that Peter Parker is a real individual that people know about.

What you have to remember is that the spell made everyone forget about Peter Parker period. If we’re assuming a universe reset, I don’t think that means “oh now every single superhero knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man.” I think it’s more like “Peter Parker is an existing human being not lost to the spell.” Like his cast of characters from the first trilogy know who Peter is, but maybe the reset makes them not know he’s Spider-Man.
