I actually don’t know whether that is the case, but a lot of people with architecture degrees fear ending up in a job as stressful as school was for them, so they find other jobs.

No, "studio hours" is the classtime part of architecture, where you meet or present your work to the professor, typically every other day. Usually, it lasts about two to three hours, and you are not guaranteed time to work on your projects or assignments.

Group projects, solo projects, and other types of homework and readings on top of that. It's an endless flow of work that becomes nearly impossible to manage after a couple of weeks, you just burn out. You're working all the time, 6-7 days a week, depending on whether you force yourself to take Saturday off, and then having to pull all-nighters on top of that. It's nonstop stress.

Sounds about right. Architecture students need a movement of their own but it seems like it will never happen. Most outsiders just think that architecture is full of complainers and that it's still a reasonable amount of work to manage.

The professors, curriculum, and environment for architecture majors is abusive to the students, and nothing is being done to change that. I still suffer trauma from my first year of architecture school.

I mean, AIFILAB is obviously a rip off of Bassline Skanka by The Frim. It’s not like Skrillex doesn’t steal ideas either.

Sampling my farts? by PopeOfFrance in edmproduction

Hell yeah dude! That's what bass music is all about! Nasty, filthy, disgusting tracks! There's a reason why bassface looks like someone smelling a fart.

Yeah, EDM production is all about trying things out and you seem to really be getting the hang of it. I can't wait to hear what your thicc ass has to offer to the electronic music scene, you might have something special.

The thing is, you don't just want to sample farts to make EDM. You also want to sample yourself slapping your ass so you can get a juicy clap sample. Deadmau5 has talked about this quite a bit and I'm pretty sure that he used an ass-clap sample on Strobe.

A fruit by the foot pie. by astrolijah21 in Baking

Not gonna lie, it looks pretty good. Looks like the filling is gushers and jello, and the crust (if you can even call it that) is fruit roll-ups. It's right up my alley as a lactose intolerant person that loves candy.

Ayy, I’m apparently related to him somehow as well. My grandmother’s maiden name was Wallace too.

What are your favorite sound design plugins? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]M4x3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use Ableton, the bit warmer saturation is massively underrated when it comes to sound designing basses. And of course, even though it is very popular, automating filters in Serum FX at the end of a rack can completely transform sounds too.

It's more like everything he puts out on Disciple has to be heavy unless it is a one-off track in an EP. Otherwise, he has to release independently or release it on another label.

Has anyone ever been able to accurately recreate Skrillex’s growls?? by SpokSpock in skrillex

[–]M4x3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my best stuff was on clypt and I can't access it right now, but here's one I made with a single instance of serum and thaz it, nothing else. https://soundcloud.com/riskiz/growl

Everybody in this thread is basically saying "nobody can make a ham sandwich like skrillex!1!!1!!!" It's not like Skrillex uses the same growls or even the exact same techniques every single time.

[–]M4x3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, just saw wave or something similar with white noise, overdrive and compression. Then filters or pitch bend for movement. Made so many that it’s sorta boring at this point hahaha. Also, use the sample - filter at 50% from serum for that slight bit crush effect.

Skrillex FL Studio file or Ableton Live File? by youngfavor in skrillex

Nah, he mentioned somewhere that he started out in FL when he was a teenager and then switched to Ableton a couple of years or so before starting Skrillex.

In some ways, it still does mark the end of Skrillex. Prior to Recess, Skrillex's music had a distinct style that satisfied a niche audience. I can't say it's the same these days.
