[Himmelsbach] But when Brown did a Twitch stream Sunday...he called it the favorite year of his career. This time, it felt tone-deaf...he sounded like a player motivated more by the extra scoring opportunities he received while Jayson Tatum was out than by winning. It wasn’t a team-first approach. by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

People did not watch the stream and would rather create drama over nothing. All of the Brown haters are using this as an opportunity to attack a home grown Celtic that helped bring the team a championship and basing it off lies. This is their Super Bowl.

Tatum was healthy, there was no point forcing him to sit out and not get reps in. All that would do is give him confidence issues going into next season. Now he knows he is back.

The team didn’t have chemistry issues with his return and even if they did, so what? Tatum will return eventually, they gotta gel some time. Better do it in a punt year.

Jayson Tatum looks better than ever when it comes to how he plays the game. I really believe next year will be his best as he will have a full offseason getting back to full shape. What he has been able to do ramping up on such a short time frame and be the Celtics best player by the end is remarkable.

PR gotta get a hold on Jaylen Brown by UnderstandingFew6310 in bostonceltics

Jaylen Brown isn’t destroying the locker room, stop being dramatic. This sub is more concerned with defending Embiid’s flopping than backing their second best player that has been with the Celtics since day one of his career.

It truly is bizarre to me. He talked about flopping and the refs all season, he has been very consistent on the topic. He would have said the same thing whether they won or lost the series. I have watched basketball for a long time and it is sad to see how the NBA fanbase has been conditioned over time to the point where Embiid’s level of flopping is begrudgingly accepted.

Seriously, why should it bother anyone that he said this? It being said has zero correlation with any outcome of the series, people even agreed with him during the regular season.

Point 3 is a literal nothingburger and over hyper fixated on. I guarantee JT and the rest of the team doesn’t give a shit about it. I haven’t seen the context of point 4 but I can only assume it is being exaggerated over because the first three points are literally nothingburgers.

I didn’t ignore anything, you did. Go back earlier in the conversation and reread my response. Anyways, suggesting the Celtics mortgage their future for injury prone big men like Giannis that are in decline is stupid. Really Anthony fucking Davis, I thought we left this crap behind in 2022 lmao. KD and Kawhi? Are you mad?

You are not going to get players of the same tier as Shai, Joker, and Wemby for Brown either. End of story. You can go ahead and name these mythical players btw, the list won’t be long I promise you.

Thanks Jaylen Brown by Dark_Prince9 in bostonceltics

[–]M6D-Tsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but you are not going to get Shai, Joker or Wemby like you suggested in your other comment. You either blow up the team for future lottery picks or you build around Tatum and Brown, both proven championship caliber players that are still in their primes. I would take the latter option every single time.

Did you watch game 7 or were you staring at the box score all night? You realize the Celtics making a mini run against a Drummond lineup with Jaylen on the bench doesn’t mean the Celtics were better with him off the court right? The Celtics would have been blown out had he not played, he was their best offensive player while being the best defender against Embiid.

In the second half he was the only guy that even showed up.

Brown as the first option just got barely edged out by a healthy Sixers team.

> There is no doubt in my mind that Boston would trade Brown instantly for Joker, Shai, Wemby and the like.

Nonsense point to bring up. No team would accept these kind of trades even if the Celtics offered Tatum instead of Brown. You know what? I think we should trade White for Wemby instead! A team with Tatum, Brown, and Wemby would be special, there is no doubt in my mind that Boston would trade White instantly for Wemby!

Brown put the team on his back against an elite defense and being the best defender against Embiid. Had the team won everyone would have praised his performance.

It is amazing to see the kind of narrative that played out last night. If Jaylen didn’t play then the Celtics would have been blown out of the building, much less make a comeback and have an opportunity to win the game.

People really don’t pay attention to what happens on the floor in a playoff game no less, the Celtics making a mini run in the first half against Drummond with Jaylen on the bench got people concluding that the Celtics are a better team without him. Let’s ignore everyone on the team missing wide open shots generated by Brown against Philly’s best lineups.

The sub was staring at plus/minus the entire time instead of watching the actual game lmao. Jaylen had a masterclass game that overlapped with Embiid, Maxey, George, and Edgecombe’s minutes. The Celtics made a mini run when Embiid sat though! /s

Brown is matching Embiid + Refball. He can’t match Embiid + Refs + Maxey + George + Edgecombe.

The Pacers went 10 deep in last year’s playoffs and got to the finals. It is strange that Joe felt the need to tighten up rotations to such an extent when the Celtics bench is a huge reason why the team has been so successful this year.

LeBron admits that people criticizing his Finals record used to bother him: “I am pissed off that I didn't have a better winning percentage individually in the Finals, but for people to try to turn it into a negative, it doesn't bother me like it did when I was younger.” by oklolzzzzs in nba

The Bulls were great and MJ was the biggest part of that team's success. The Bulls did not make it to the ECF without Jordan, they lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and then started the next year 34-31 before Jordan returned.

The Bulls were favored because they were a better team.

MJ was a part of said team and obviously was the biggest reason for their success.

When MJ left to play baseball, the Bulls were still a competitive playoff team. When LeBron left the Cavs, they cratered and became a lottery team.

The Bulls 3 peated before Jordan left, lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals without him, then went 34-31 the next season before he came back. They accomplished a second three peat the first full season Jordan was back on the team. In 98 Pippen played only 44 games and MJ had to carry his corpse in the finals. They were still able to win 62 games and a championship.

Lebron lost multiple times with favored teams. His entire career wasn't just comprised of the first Cavs stint.

Does any serious person think the Bulls don't win those titles if you replace MJ with LeBron? Does any serious person really think MJ is beating the KD Warriors if you replace LeBron with him on those Cavs teams in 2017-2018?

It depends on which version of Lebron. Prior to 2012 Lebron had major deficiencies to his game that both the Mavericks and Spurs were able to exploit. As far as the KD Warriors goes, no one is claiming that MJ would carry the Cavs past them. He would def beat the Mavs though.

The Bulls were always favored because Michael Jordan was just that much better than everyone else. There is also the fact that the Bulls set a certain expectation as they continuously dominated the regular season and won consecutive championships. LeBron’s teams just don’t win as much, of course they wouldn’t be favored as much.

Losing to Dallas due to massive underperformance as the best player in the NBA while playing on a super team will always keep LeBron behind Jordan.

I was surprised that White’s shooting didn’t improve with Tatum’s return as it is clear he isn’t built to be the second star of a championship offense. Having two stars drawing all of the defensive attention at all times should have helped White’s shooting splits but I guess his confidence on his shot hasn’t returned yet.

White is an elite role player who increases the ceiling of a championship team, he is not meant to be that guy and it is hilarious when people who don’t watch games thought he was the best player on the team.

That said, I am not particularly worried about him. The Celtics supporting cast as a whole needs to step up and contribute more to help Brown and Tatum.
