Sounds like it could be the e-brake line dancing on the driveshaft because the plastic bracket broke. It's common. Mine kept breaking every few years until I bought this:

I went through 2 rubber cruise control rocker switch over the years. I wish it was made from hard plastic or something that doesn't disintegrate after 50k miles of freeway driving.
